Wow! This looks good!

I can't fucking believe we're getting a Gundam series co-written by Hideaki Anno with mecha designs from Ikuto Yamashita.

I heard a lot of folks say that Witch from Mercury felt a lot like Evangelion, but now we're cooking!

I need to schedule my own Seed rewatch myself. I haven’t seen the Seed Freedom movie from this year either.
If you're a Gundam Seed & Seed Destiny fan, then it's well worth it to watch Seed Freedom after you catch back up on your next re-watch.

Seed Freedom is a direct continuation of the story post Seed Destiny with a small time jump.

I see it didn't take long to start with the self-destruct jokes.

Basically, these old games are mostly a "SKIP".

I finished my SEED rewatch. It was fun, still a solid show although it had some bad parts (like Flay, and the viollains being one note and annoying). Overall I'd still recommend it.

That said, I'm struggling with SEED Destiny., I wanted to watch the new SEED movie, but I don't think I'll be getting through Destiny, its really obnoxious right from the start. I might just move on to other stuff on my to watch list and come back to Gundam with a different series later (like Wing or IBO).

I think you might need a siesta after watching all of Gundam SEED.

After watching something else, you can come back to watching SEED Destiny.

It's a "Older" GunPla Model, so it has it's issues due to the age of it's design.

Some new (very spoilerific) key art for GQuuuuuuX just dropped and I was not expecting what I just saw.

We’ve got Char himself (oddly in his design from MSG Origin, redesigns for the OG Gundam, Zakus, Guncannon, White Base, and others. This really is Anno pulling his version of Star Trek 2009.

It gives me immense whiplash seeing Yas' work right before getting beaned in the face by the flurry of those designs.

Based on the spoiler description of the movie version of the first three episodes, it makes a little more sense.

Essentially, the first part of the series is the jumping off point for the timeline where Char and Zeon win the OYW, with a slight remake of the first episode of 0079. Once the story skips ahead after the ceasefire, the character designs switch to the ones we’ve already seen.

It’s basically the same thing Anno did with the Eva Rebuilds - the character design resembles the original when following the source material, then goes in a different direction once free of it.

EVA never really gripped me but I can't fault the man for daring to change things up. Seems like it'll be fun!

Not too surprising on the Origin thing, I noticed Char’s Musai uses the same name it had in Origin.

It’s been 15 years since I watched Destiny. I only remember how Shinn Asuka was done dirty by the cast change and that Destiny was largely derivative of Seed.

That is to say, everything Destiny does was better the first time around. When Gundam Seed did it. I know Seed wasn’t set up for a sequel series initially. Seed was just such a big success, that Bandai wanted to capitalize on its popularity while they had the momentum.
