GO PITTSBURGH STEELERS!

This was a fan thread. As a fan I do the fan thing. I gave my fair thoughts in another thread. Constant whining and crying will not change the fact the steelers won fair and square. The cards played a hell of a game and faught like true champs. I almost hope for a super bowl rematch next year but with the way the leauge(sp) is it's completly unlikely.

Boths sides certainly played fair and square. But the game was not won or
lost fair and square in the slightest.

And doing the "fan thing" need not entail over aggresive comments.

Anyone read Sports Illustrated's great write-up of the Super Bowl? They really did a nice job covering the game, the great Steelers franchise, and how the 2009 Steelers compare to the great 1970s super bowl winning teams.

You keep telling yourself that. Perhaps eventually you'll believe it.

Neither of Pittsburgh's last two Super Bowl titles were earned. They were instead awarded by judiciously cripping calls. The Cardinals nearly overcame both the Steelers and the referees. That's the real story of Super Bowl XLIII.

In the End, the Cardinals just didn't make the plays they needed to make. Ignoring the ENTIRE rest of the game, they had the Steelers on a 3rd and long with 2 minutes left. No miracle Ref call there, they just blew it. When Holmes caught the endzone pass in (half-assedW) triple coverage, no ref miracle there, the call was correct.

Saying the refs weren't good (duh) is one thing, but trying to pin EVERYTHING on them, when it was within the Cards' control to win the game, is absurd.

There's a difference between saying something is entirely a certain group's fault, which I have not, and asserting that it was primarily their fault—by which I stand firmly.

And trying to say or imply it was mostly the Cardinals' fault, when if the refereeing had been spot on or even decent they almost certainly wouldn't have needed a last minute stop, is even more absurd.

but they had MULTIPLE chances to win the game in the last drive, and could not make a defensive stop. Any one of several plays would have won the game for them. Refs stayed out of it. Whose fault IS that?

They also wouldn't have needed a last-minute stop if they could stop Holmes in triple coverage (only one of the 3 even jumped, the other two didn't try to push him out of bounds to prevent the TD, either). Wouldn't have needed it if Warner hadn't given teh ball to Harrison on a bush-league play, and then watched as your fastest players on the team (your WRs and TEs) couldn't catch a 300lb lineman in the space of 100 yards. .

THOSE things are the Cardinals' fault, and the mark of a poor team. If they can't make those plays, they lose regardless of anything else. And when you're up and with 2 minutes to play, and you lose, YOU blew it. Not the refs.

I know we don't agree on things football scout but you are right on the money in this case. The steelers won the cards lost on their own merits. Did the refs blow calls? Yes for both sides. There was a uncalled clip on Harrisons runback. One play earlier. On Boldins big play a cardinal clipped Townson(sp). They consistantly ignored holding call after holding call against Gandy(Pittsburgh native by the way) as he damn near had Harrison in a choke hold all game long. Get over it your team lost.

harrison shouldn't say a word, because he should have been ejected and HEAVILY fined for his play towards the end of the game.
