Glee Season Finale

^What is the spin off going to be, New York?

Hmm yeah I'm not sure how I feel about that episode. It was...nice but it just felt like it was missing a lot. I don't know, it just didn't really feel like they were all saying goodbye.

I can't believe Kurt didn't get in. I did love Burt dancing, that was great.

Brittany made me laugh but again, just another silly storyline. They were all so concerned about Puck and yet nobody noticed Brittany failing?

Quinn...they really ballsed up that character. What was the point of her having that accident again? And she hasn't had any interaction with Puck for ages, the last few eps she's been getting close with the newbie and they don't even say goodbye in the finale

It's a bit hard to explain, but with all the graduations I almost feel like I just watched a series finale, but I know it's only a series finale. I don't have high hopes that it's going to get any better next year.

^What is the spin off going to be, New York?

They were actually planning a full spin-off with Rachel, Finn, and Kurt in New York, but Fox axed the idea before season 3 started.

Now it looks like the show is going to focus part of the action at McKinley and part at NYADA. From the sound of it, we're getting M*A*S*H* and After M*A*S*H* in the same series. Since the writers have been unable to keep plots coherent when everyone is in the same place, I'm not confident they will do any better with this.

I guess to say something about the end, I honestly don't get it. Not the whole Rachael going to New York thing, but how Kurt, who had a kick ass audition, didn't get in. Rachael choked, Kurt had a great audition (And was great at Nationals). How does that make Rachael getting in again and what was the point of the auditions anyway?

I could also talk about the other characters, but I kind of felt the writers screwed them over. How was no one concerned with Brittney, and what will happen with Santana. They only gave minimal lines to the rest of the characters and the final half hour was the Rachael/Finn show, so forgive me for not having much to say about the rest of the episode. I'm glad this season is over though. Time for a much needed Glee Break.

When does Doctor Who premiere again? I miss that show.
Frankly it's absolutely no surprise that Kurt didn't get in. Kurt's skills aren't that great. He's the person who might stand out in many a school, but doesn't have enough talent to be in such a prestigious school.

Trust me, there really is no way Kurt would get in with us skills or his audition.

As for the thrust of Rachel and Finn, you do realize that they are and always have been the stars of this show. And are going to get the vast Lion share of screen time.

Saying other characters got shorted, is about as dumb as saying how come all good things wasn't more about Crusher and Troi.

Now saying that I actually do wish the episode was two hours as I really would have liked to see it more fleshed out.

But that's normal. On this show so many of the good ideas or good final products feel like they could easily be expanded.

And of course the bad ideas or bad episodes always feel too long.

Rachel may be the star... But Fin?

No way.

There is no central character.

Some maybe more central than others, but they pick a new temporary central character each week.

That way little unimportant ones get some time in the sun periodically.

I've been watching the last few episodes and every single fucking time, they basically do three things:

1) Introduce some plot point that you know will lead to some kind of half-assed resolution (Bieste's abuse, Quinn's paralysis, Rachel/Kurt applying to NYADA)

2) Completely dropping said opportunities to make a statement. For a show that proudly hocks its pro-gay agenda (an agenda, I will add that I fully endorse and support, by the way), the show is absolutely lousy at addressing other, unrelated issues.

Examples: Quinn's paralysis. There was that whole scene where she and Artie were rolling around the campus grounds learning to use her wheelchair. He was mentoring her and her reaction was one of disgust - "I'm not going to be in this thing forever!" she says, more defiant than actually concerned about how spoiled and pretentious she sounds, as if being relegated to the wheelchair was tantamount to living less of a life. You know, the same life Artie has lived his whole life. To see Quinn then stand up at prom and dance at regionals with no follow-up about it, no understanding of how far she's come or any kind of revelation about what it must be like for Artie every day was lazy writing, sloppy storytelling and just plain awful. I'm sure all the handicapped kids out there who are confined to wheelchairs were just thrilled to see Quinn so easily dismiss that particular episode of her life, as if it didn't happen. As if it didn't matter.

Fuck that noise.

3) The "message" that winning is all that matters. It wasn't really present in the graduation episode, but instead in the previous one. Especially tacky I thought was the glee kids singing "We Are The Champions" at Schuester's Teacher of the Year ceremony.

First of all, how the blazing Klingon fuck does Will Scheuster get a Teacher of the Year award? He's not a glee teacher, he's a Spanish teacher. And a spanish teacher who can't even speak spanish!

Secondly, having the kids gloating about being winners and not losers (as if that's all kids are capable of being) was irresponsible and outright dumb. Thirdly, it flies in the face of what these glee club kids started out as. It's not growth. Winning a glee contest does not make you king of the castle.

Lastly, the Rachel storyline, now that we've seen it in full this year was just patently stupid. You had to know that when she was rattling off all the wonderful things that had happened to her -- poor, nerdy Rachel Berry -- Prom queen, engaged to the quarterback, winning nationals... that she was heading for a fall. Her miraculous admission to NYADA after choking (an artificial plot drama if ever there was one) aside, the character work this year with her was just appalling.

So yeah, I'm done with this show. It's a joke. It's a shadow of what it was in it's premiere season and is just plain stupid now.

So really, all of this, the last 3 years has been a fevered psychotic episode wetdream in freshman Rachel Berry's minds eye after an allergic reaction to her first face slushi?

Actually Will winning teacher of the year was fairly reasonable for me. When I was a music teacher (he isn't a spanish teacher, he is now a history teacher, just to clarify), teacher of the year was what you would call political (or a popularity contest).

One year our football coach (who taught two hours of reading, yes reading) won teacher of the year. Why, because the football team had its best year.

Nor is it just that one school I taught at. My sister and her husband are both teachers, at two different Oregon schools and generally teacher of the year goes to whoever gains the most positive press for the school.

Be it arts, sports, or more standard subjects like Math, Science, English, ect.

ANd for this school its been the point from the very first episode, you bring in revenue for the school you get power, praise, and awards.

So certainly consistent to how thats been portrayed.
