'Gilligan's Island' Heads to the Big Screen

I'm betting that some youngster will bitch about this being a LOST rip-off when it's released.

There should be some scene where the Skipper wakes up to the smoke monster coming after him but then it's revealed it's just Gilligan burning breakfast or something.

Didn't we already get a remake? It's called Lost.
Well, that didn't take long.
I aim to please. :D

That would be pretty cool.

There is an actor, and I don't know his name, and I can't remember any role he's played except one, but when I saw this guy, I thought "OMG it's a young Skipper." I thought he would be perfect, but that was probably 30 years ago now or more, so he might not work in the part anymore.

Anyway, the role was a guest star playing "Thor" in the old Bill Bixby Incredible Hulk TV show. I remember watching that show thinking he was a reincarnation of Alan Hale, not just in looks, but in his mannerisms. He seemed like a natural for the part.
Eric Allan Kramer. He's already played the Skipper, sort of. He played Alan Hale, jr in the TV movie Surviving Gilligan's Island.

Forgetting something here...at least one character will change race.

Chewingtobbaco Ewokfur as the Professor.

Errr...Chiwetel Ejiofor

Fox News recast? Shatner as the Skipper...too old. Whats her name as Mary Ann, not pretty enough.

Okay I'll play along...Fox was right about Ginger and Mary Ann anyway...

Justin Long as Gilligan
William Lucking* as the Skipper
Christina Hendricks as Ginger
Ginnifer Goodwin as Mary Ann
Wentworth Miller or Jon Hamm as the Professor
Jean Smart and Gregory Itzen as the Howells

*Piney from Sons of Anarchy. Based on that role, I think he can play an old softy as well as a badass, if geriatric, biker.

Let's see...

Gilligan: Fran Kranz or Justin Long (Brandon from Galaxy Quest and the "I'm a Mac" guy)
Skipper: John Goodman
Mr. Howell: John Noble
Mrs. Howell: Claire Bloom
Ginger: Zoe Saldana or Tricia Helfer (though Christina Hendricks could work)
Professor: Phil Morris or Hugh Laurie
Mary Ann: Kristen Bell or Kristin Kreuk

I could see... and don't laugh... Pamela Anderson as Ginger. LOL Really... she's such a ditzy dizzy blonde. Or... or... LINDSAY LOHAN! LOL

Ginger is not a ditzy blonde (except in the Filmation cartoon revivals). She's a canny, self-possessed redhead (i.e. ginger). True, she was originally written as a Marilyn Monroe clone, but soon evolved into a much smarter, stronger character, a calculating woman who used her sexuality cagily as a tool toward the achievement of her goals.

^ The Phil Morris pick for the Professor is just inspired. :techman:

I can see Justin Long as Gilligan. Maybe Bruce Campbell as the Skipper?

I was considering Bruce Campbell for Mr. Howell. I don't see him as the Skipper at all. The Skipper needs to be an affable straight man, an Oliver Hardy type to Gilligan's Stan Laurel. Bruce Campbell isn't the straight man type.

The modern Gilligan needs some sex appeal.

Why? You've got Ginger, Mary Ann, and the Professor for sex appeal. Gilligan's supposed to be a boyish innocent. (Although Ginger often flirted aggressively with him and Mary Ann seemed to have a bit of a thing for him sometimes.)

The modern Gilligan needs some sex appeal. I vote for John Krasinski.

How about Krasinski as the Professor?

Anyway, I think Justin Long is cute. Am I weird? Probably. :rommie:

Options on the island were, shall we say, limited. The Professor was the only attractive guy. Maybe Mr. Howell, too, but I wouldn't wanna tangle with Lovey!
