Well, there was a deleted scene from the finale that showed him being taken into Federation custody, so that may have been the plan from the start. But, yeah, was not a big fan of Narek.

I had no problems with Narek or Narissa, then again I never felt like they were long time additions to the show anyway, just a 1 season and done sort of thing.
Commodore Oh is another matter of course.
No surprise something major will happen at the start of S2 as there will need to be an event or mystery to base the season on and keep the group together.

The Borg I imagined and wrote for the TNG producers were so much scarier and more powerful then they showed you on the show not only did they assimilate technology they assimilate people and their powers like the betazoid who are psychic and other species with amazing abilities and they were completely covered in nanites can make themselves look like whatever can make themselves look like other Federation citizens a single Warrior drone could rip open the outside of a ship with his bare hands climbing and assimilate everyone
