General goings on

Youtube sent this one to me, a german fan film based on Nu Trek, but quite well-done, actually. Activate your CC'ing if ya can't speak deutsch, like me

On my youtube feed, there's a new short video where Farragut Forward is announcing a new Indiegogo (I actually missed this, they show fanfilms still have some life!)
Just as original Trek had their characters promoted with some having transferred to other ships, this video confirmed at least one such move...hopefully they will start shooting soon

Also on Youtube, The Gorn Imperative popped up over the weekend. It's a 3-parter (10 to 15 minutes each) created by sometime member Raymar (aka Kenneth Thomson) who often contributes CG FX for various productions.

It's distinctive in that he repeats much of the story from TOS' Arena episode, but from the Gorn's perspective.

Some of the ship designs are ok, but I felt this should have been massively trimmed down to a single 15-minute episode. There were too many unnecessarily repeated stock shots of Gorn extras who keep flailing about while another off-screen Gorn speaks, making it VERY confusing to watch. An overuse of rapid cutting and mostly medium-to-close-up shots did not help the production.

A LOT of CG work, which is admirable, but the storytelling awkwardness makes it hard for me to recommend it.

I was reminded of this project, their website is still operational, but I haven't really found why it got stalled completely.
There's a little bit of corny dialogue, but I'd really like to see a full-length episode set in the OG Pike era...

I've also been wondering, why suddenly barely anyone seems to be trying to start up a new series anymore in the TOS period. There is still Valiant and Dreadnought dominion, but not really anyone else. Kinda sad, when there exists 3 film sets out there.

I guess I'm bored, I'd like to see more attempts and productions again
