Future of Paramount+ among merger talks

 I saw a few articles floating around but they seem to link back to Tachyon Pulse podcast who stated that some people at Skydance wanted that out there about ending Star Trek for awhile and doubling down on more conservative leaning media.

After all the money they're spending on SFA and SNW?

I find that difficult to believe. It's like asking Disney to drop Marvel.

Thanks!

Edit: Oh, Tachyon Pulse is that one guy? I can’t recall his other channel, but one glance at him, and I realized it’s the dude who is seemingly incapable of getting stuff right. <_<

He's part of SciTrek (the same people who said Sony was going to buy Paramount and that Firefly was going to be rebooted  ).

And that Stargate was back. And then it wasn’t. And then it was, but with a caveat. And then it wasn’t, but with a glimmer of hope. And then it wasn’t, and that was for the best. And then it was, thank goodness. And then idk.

I don’t really believe it either, in terms of it actually happening. At some point, Skydance will want to monetize the IP. Will it be with Secret Hideout or will they do their own thing? Who knows.

However, do I think Paramount or Skydance would “leak” an intention to go in a different way with their programming to get their merger approved? Absolutely.

Is it ridiculous these organizations have to deal with culture war B.S. on an issue of antitrust, which should be largely devoid of such matters? Absolutely.

Wednesday is the deadline for Trump to respond to Paramount’s motion to dismiss the lawsuit.

I'm not an expert on law or anything but doesn't offering a cash settlement admit to some form of guilt? Or are they really just that eager to get rid of it instead of letting it go to court and making their case?

15 million dollars is chump change (or Trump change in this case.) It’s basically CBS saying ‘Here’s some hooker money, you big fucking baby. Now piss off. Oh, yeah, sorry for calling you a big fucking baby.’

It's essentially Go Away Money.

Is it the only option or is it sort of a lesser of two evils thing? Perhaps a bout of naivety as a non-American but surely if this case went to court it would get laughed out right?

Unless the indoctrination of the American right wing is not exaggerated and you are unfortunately saddled with a government that would never get away with its activities in any other less jingoistic nation in the free world...

CBS could pay ridiculous amounts of money for Trump’s suit, and Trump would eventually lose. But CBS doesn’t want to spend ridiculous money, and I’d bet Trump knows that. He also knows he’d lose, but that’s not the point. He just wants hush money which CBS is all too happy to give him, but they’re not going to go past their chump change maximum. Even the 25 million he wants is still small potatoes, and everyone involved knows that.

So it's just a big old fustercluck?
yeah, I mean, this country stopped taking antitrust seriously decades ago. It’s been more political than pragmatic for a long time, but Trump has just stepped it up. I wouldn’t be surprised if Para/Skydance didn’t have to start dropping money in his shitcoin to get the merger through. Straight up bribery.
