Exeter

Of course, that "soon" is the Biblical "soon," with each day lasting a million years. ;)

I cannot access the site from work, so I cannot confirm just now, but were there four acts to Savage Empire? I downloaded 1-3 and 3 clearly isn't the end. I cannot believe I missed something!

Anyway, great stuff, nice and faithful to the original. Great acting; I cannot see how you could keep a straight face with some of those lines, so kudos to the principles.

Looking forward to more. Any reason these things only seem to be streaming video on the site? Why can't we just download all the episodes at will?

There's a teaser and four acts. The teaser and first two acts have been released. There are two to go.

Jimm Johnson would be the person to ask about the streaming thing. There are ways to download streaming video, of course; perhaps when the main site is updated (probably at the release of the final part of the show) this will be addressed.

I'm glad you're enjoying the show so far.

Actually, the poster above was talking about the one Exeter project that has been completey finished. But you still may want to try and e-mail or contact the webmaster to see if there's a problem with their FTP site for part 4 of Savage Empire

You know what really sucks? I don't intend to watch this thing until it's finished. Until I can sit down and watch the whole episode, teaser to tag, with a bag of chips and uninterrupted. This has become my next big Star Trek event. I did watch the teaser already, but that was enough to convince me that the rest was worthy of my undivided attention.

So as much as I've been agitating for the release of act three ... I still won't watch it until act four is out.

Actually I sorted it yesterday when I got home. I guess the acronyms used weren't familiar enough to me. Savage Empire has a Teaser/Opener (I confused this with Trailer and never viewed it, so I've since downloaded it from a mirror site) and the last part is referred to as "tag" -- I have no idea what that's supposed to mean, but it's the last act and credits.

I'll probably watch the whole thing end-to-end in a bit (yet another slow day at the office).

From what I can see they appear to be holding off on putting the new show on mirror sites until it's completed. A lot of people must have caught up on everything already to be hanging on for this one show...

Yeah, they call Act Four the "tag," which Jimm explained to me at some point but I still find it confusing because it's not customary. I forgot all about that.

Maybe they don't do it anymore, but back in the days of TOS, TV scripts opened with "Teasers" and closed with "Tags." It was pretty standard formatting, from what I've seen (which, admittedly, isn't all that much).

TOS opened with a Teaser and the rest of the story was broken into four acts separated by commercials. I think that half-hour comedies tended to use - and for all I know, still do - the format of coming back after a last commercial for a short tag scene that led into the credits.

Quinn Martin used to call the last act an "epilogue;" I don't remember, off hand, whether that was a short one-scene fifth act or another name for act four.

I've sometimes heard that last scene in one-hour dramas - you know, the "let's make fun of Spock" scene at the end of a lot of TOS episodes - referred to as a "tag."

Apropos of nothing, the several scripts I've read for "Star Trek Phase II" dropped the teaser from the format and opened cold after the main titles.

Nice to know that (based on that picture) the 1701 Control console looks to have run on 120v house current. ;)
Which might explain why the damned things kept sparking and electrocuting their operators.

Didn't Mission: Impossible used to have tags?
No, M:I usually just ended the show as the mission was completed. Typical ending had the IMF team driving away on their escape route.

And by M:I I obviously meant I Spy. Whoops.

That's OK...the '60s were a long time ago. After a while, it all seems to run together anyway.
:guffaw:
