Episodes where the Enterprise leaves the quadrant or the galaxy?

ReadyAndWilling

Fleet Captain
hey guys, does anyone know of these types of episodes? i remember watching an episode from season 1 where the ship is thrown into another part of the universe and it seemed great to see the ship in a strange part of the universe.

does the ship ever leave the AQ after this?

thanks

Q throws the Big E into an uncharted sector in "Q Who", but I'm not sure if that was actually outside the Alpha Quadrant (I think it was "only" a 7000 LY journey).

The episode you're reffering to is Where No One Has Gone Before. The Enterprise visits a different galaxy and then the edge of the universe. It leaves the quadrant again in Q Who when it is thrown into the Delta quadrant for an early encounter with The Borg.

I can think of no other episodes where it leaves the Alpha Quadrant, but some of Klingon and Romulan space is in the Beta Quadrant, so it's possible that it does, but it's not mentioned on-screen.

That must be Where No One Has Gone Before.

Q doesn't send the Enterprise to the Delta Quadrant in "Q Who?", he just sends them further out into the Alpha Quadrant (Data said it would take two years to return home from their position).

There was also The Nth Degree where Barclay propelled the ship 30,000 light years from its starting point, but I'm pretty sure that was still in the Alpha Quadrant as well.

You are thinking of my all time favorite episode "Where no one has gone before". I feel like watching it now!! :guffaw:

I don't think there are many others where the Enterprise actually left the quadrant, let alone the galaxy.

Three episodes I can think of, for sure:

"Where no one has gone before" - The Traveler propels the Enterprise well outside of the AQ into the Triangulum Galaxy as well as "the edge of the universe."

"Q Who" - Q propels the Enterprise some 7,000 LY away into what may have been either the edge of the DQ or deep in the BQ.

"The Nth Degree" - Barclay, under control of an alien probe, propels the Enterprse to the "center of the galaxy" which could be, really, any quadrant or, given that it's the center, one of its own.

It should also be worth pointing out the Enterprise may have traveled between the BQ and AQ many times as the BQ is part of Federation space.

While, technically not the Enterprise herself, Geordi and Data used a shuttlecraft to go into the Barzan wormhole. They ended up in the Delta Quadrant.

The Enterprise herself doesn't go though it, but Data & Geordi enter the Barzan Wormhole, which links the Alpha & Gamma quadrants, in season 3's The Price

The Ferengi get trapped there too. lol

The Barzan Wormhole moves itself, so the entrance and exit can be anywhere. That's how the Ferengi got to the Delta Quadrant.

Where No One Has Gone Before: 2.7 million light years in the first jump, 1 BILLION LY in the second!

The quadrant? The Federation is split between the Alpha and Beta quadrants, with our solar system sitting on the border, so the Enterprise certainly left the Alpha and entered the Beta or vice versa many times.

Either that writer made a typo and it was supposed to be 65,000 LY or they didn't go very far. 1000 LY is a year's worth of travel at high warp, meaning 65 would be only a few weeks away.
