Spoilers Eastereggs, references, observations, nods – the LD collection

S3E1 (minus things already seen in trailers)

Sonny Clemonds still gives concerts!
And the crystalline entity has joined the intro battle :D
Ketracel white sauce with its 17 MSHU is hotter than pure capsaicin (16 MSHU) :D
The FC theme music :luvlove: - and Steppenwolf's Magic Carpet Ride!
A Phoenix capsule for kids, and a T'Plana-Hath replica :D
And the ride features Cromwell's voice, too!
The original of course launched with hull plates that split off, but a ride for kids doesn't have to be that accurate :D
A very nice Akira drawing, and Tuvok appears!
Freeman calls it a classic Pakled Samaritan Snare ;)
Fermat's last theorem was solved, and we see the first runabout that has only one front window...

I don’t care, but has anyone said why LD wears one uniform while the rest of the fleet is still wearing the FC/DS9 uniform? So glad the show has returned!

I think the intent in the first season was that Starfleet's "Front Line" division wore the gray FC uniforms while the support division wore the LD uniform. Indeed, in the first season everyone wore the LD uniforms, the FC uniforms were only seen on the Titan and that one guy on the medical transport Boimler was on. I guess there was also the scene showing Mariner visiting DS9, but that was meant to be a flashback.

Since season 2 they seem to have abandoned that with everyone in Starfleet wearing the FC uniforms except for the Cerritos crew.

Admiral Freeman is still wearing a Lower Decks styled Admiral uniform.

The Admirals seem to be a whole other oddity altogether. Up to now, all Admirals seen on the show wore the LD uniform and were all four star Admirals. Then the other Admiral Admiral Freeman talks to this week was wearing the FC style uniform and was a three star Admiral. Well, I say "FC style" even though the Admiral's variant of the gray uniform wasn't introduced until DS9 season 6. The Admiral in First Contact as well as all Admirals seen in DS9 S5 after the uniform change were still wearing the Admiral uniform introduced in TNG S6.

Another thing to muddle the uniform issue is that this season should take place in the time when Starfleet switched to the uniforms seen in the flashback scenes in Picard's first season.

Which, as someone at Jammers Review site pointed out, is a double easter egg as the episode features Bozeman, Montana and Bateman was captain of the USS Bozeman in TNG.

I smiled at that connection while I was watching it. It's Braga's birthplace isn't it?

Maybe the admirals wearing the Cerritos-style uniform are in charge of Starfleet's support division?

Even more muddled by what is going on over at "Protostar".
