EA Confirm Command & Conquer 4

I believe you can use a mouse/keyboard on the PS3 so porting RTSs to that console shouldn't be too much of an issue. The real problem comes from the stigma surrounding the genre on consoles. If people aren't going to buy it, the publishers aren't going to sell it.

As far as the 360 is concerned, I remember hearing a while back that MS had some back room deals with PC companies saying that they wouldn't get involved in PC development and that MS consoles have avoided using mouse/keyboards so that they don't infringe on that deal. I don't know how true that is but I can see it happening.

but there is red alert 3 for the PS3 and is joypad only, as I said the only game to use m/k method on the ps3 is UT: 3. I don't think its anything to do with stigma, I don't think developers can be bothered

yeah I know, my comment was directed to a poster who said that no one has made a mouse keyboard peripheral for the consoles while they make guitars and all sorts of other controllers. The mouse keyboard combo is available (at least on the PS3). Implementation of it is another story

Weird that the story takes place 12 years after the end of 'Tiberium Wars/Kane's Wrath', instead of immediately after.
Not really, aside from expansions, none of the main trunk C&C games have taken place immediately after their predecessors. 12 years in-game is again the shortest time between games though, it was 35 years between C&C and TS and 17 years between TS and C&C3 IIRC.

I never said they've never made an M&K for consoles, there have been several M&K peripherals over the years for several different consoles. You could even get a mouse for the SNES. However, the DC, PS2, and XBox360 have a total of about a dozen games that have been designed to support one in the past ten years.

My point is they should bundle a M&K with a game like C&C for consoles, just like they do a guitar with GH or RS.

Ok, I haven't played a new C&C games since Red Alert 2, have I missed anything good?

I think so, but I suppose I'm biased. You've missed C&C3: Tiberium Wars (with the return of Kane), the excellent Kane's Wrath expansion pack, Red Alert 3 (with possibly the greatest over the top cutscenes in video game history and the interesting addition of being able to play the campaign in co-op with a second player) and the PC download only "expandalone" RA3: Uprising.

you don't need to bundle a M&K with a game as you can just use any USB M&K for ps3 and 360. I don't think people would pay extra for it when they can just use stuff they have already

If the ps3 version had M&K support then I would of "double dipped" as people say on here

I did actually have a go at the RA3 demo, but the gameplay didn't appeal to me. Maybe the genre has just passed me by because I had a similar experience with the DoW2 demo.

I know what you're saying, it took me a while to get used to RA3's gameplay as well, it felt really weird after RA2 for some reason. For the record, I still think RA2/YR was the best entry in the franchise, gameplay wise at least.

Can't say I want to see an end to teh prime line for Command and Conquer. If they do end it, I really want the scrin to win. Plus since the scrin already know of Kane, I want an explination how Kane can be everywhere at the same time. He was stalins advisor in Red Alert and since there always has been a brotherhood since the book of lies, I wonder what else they can tie in.

Oh sod the gameplay, the intro kicked arse!

...well, from about 2:36 onwards at least. ;)

Well I will get it, the series is great. To me the greatest of all the best fun I have ever had online on a RTS was RA2 Yuri's Revenge, good times.

Nothing I have played since that has ever been as much fun, better graphics, better story sure, but not the fun factor. You could modify the the IFV 17 different ways. Mix and match factions, mind control, 3 vs 3 games were epic with teams.

^RA3 has a vehicle and a fixed position turret similar to the IFV which comes in very handy sometimes.

I hope it's more like C&C3 and less like RA3. I enjoyed C&C3 (except for the "dumb luck" missions :scream: ), and for some reason I'm struggling to really get into RA3.

The constant internet connection is crap though. They need to set it up so that you have an option as to whether or not you have your stats tracked. Limiting it like that will cut off a lot of people.
