Doctor Who - The Experience to CLOSE

If you wanted to visit the Experience in Cardiff, you should start planning, because coming next summer the exhibition will close. And it is unclear if it will re-open elsewhere (London is a possibility).
I've started to think how it would be best possible to gather friends and other local friends together to visit it at least once before it's over.
Shame, though.

I was a regular visitor to the Doctor Who Exhibition at Longleat before it's closure in 2003 after thirty years - I wonder if they'd have tried to hold on had they known the 2005 revival was just around the corner.

The closure of this permanently could be tragic as I'm unsure of the BBC would spend the money to store the older TARDIS sets for re-use in possible future multi-Doctor stories. I'm also not sure what effect this may have on the Cardiff tourist industry, as it has always appeared to be very busy.

That's a real shame. I visited the Experience in 2013 and it was amazing. So many props and costumes from the classic and current series.

Ideally, they'd just reopen in another location in Cardiff. It's extra cool being in Cardiff because that is the center of the Doctor Who universe. When we went, we got to go to the BBC studios and go in the actual TARDIS set! Amazing experience! The Experience also had various walking tours at different times of the year (not when I was there) to see filming locations. I think the DW Experience really belongs in Cardiff, although I'm sure London would be more convenient for many people. Hopefully, it reopens somewhere.

Mr Awe

This makes me sad. I was hoping to visit someday; Wales is part of my Bucket-List trip. Sadly, I don't have the money to make the trip any time soon.

I was there last summer (2015) and was blown away by the awesomeness. A shame if it doesn't open somewhere else, there's a lot to be said about having the Experience be literally steps from the actual working sets and for the production to liberally borrow from readily available props from the show's history.

When I was there, the replica of the original console was missing (replaced by a wooden stand-in and partially covered in a tarp) as the actual prop was being used in Clara's TARDIS for last season's finale; and the day before I was there they were filming the scenes with the Doctor and Clara in the diner, again mere steps away from the Experience. One wonders if Cardiff has actual plans for the land, or if this is just an excuse to close the place if it's becoming less profitable?

Mark, the lease is up, so it's Cardiff council's call.
Suspect that some on the council (or whatever the official body is called) think they can use the building as a general conference centre and raise Cardiff's profile beyond Doctor Who, others may have just thought that the BBC would pay more for an extended lease, and are now worried about having their bluff called.
