Do you wear your wedding ring?

Do you wear your wedding ring

It doesn't seem to be either one way or the other in Scotland. As many men don't wear wedding rings as do. My sisters' husbands never had wedding rings. My father always wears his. My brother's divorced but I don't think he wore one.

I've worn mine since I got married (11 years this May), so I'm getting every bit of value out of the $50.00 I paid for it back in 1997...

I wear my wedding ring at night and on my days off because I'm not allowed to wear it to work.

I wear mine when I'm awake but I always take it off when I'm sleeping. I have a fear that I'll snag a blanket or two on the prongs and I'll somehow shred the bed in the night (it could happen).

I've been married almost 20 years to my first wife, and the only time I take off the wedding band is if I'm doing yardwork. (Or if I'm out of town alone at a convention. :D)

My wife will sometimes just wear the band, or she'll wear the band and a ring I bought her for our 10th anniversary. She seldom puts on the engagement ring any more.

But to answer the OP's question properly (;)): we're not allowed to wear rings of any kind at work. :) It's a force of habit that continues during my daily routine. (Sorry, some things about work are so useful that I have to continue those behaviours at home... hand-washing, for instance.)

What, you were hoping to find out if I was married or not? ;) ;)

If I get married someday I would like to wear the ring, but rings look really bad on my hands. I thought about getting a graduation ring for my MSc, but I dropped it for the same reason. Maybe something not gold. I'm playing with the idea of a stainless steel ring.

Do you have olive skin? If so, you should never wear yellow gold.

On topic, not married, don't wear jewelry, both unlikely to change.

What fl said.

Interestingly, my parents have never worn their wedding rings. My mom never cared for jewelery.

Aside from some people's work requirements, every married person I know always wears their wedding ring. The only times I don't wear my ring are in the shower and when I'm working out (because my fingers swell).

Nope. To quote Life on Mars "pale as a ginger bird's arse". Rings look bad on my hands because I don't have long fingers, so I don't like to draw attention to them too much. I don't like jewelery too much on men in general, but would make an exception for a wedding ring.

About yellow gold on olive skin, try and say that to some of my fellow countrymen! Oi, Guido!

I wear mine during the day, taking it off at night or when working in the yard/ garage or playing hockey.

My dad couldn't wear his during the day - he was a steel-rule die maker in a printing and folding paper box company. Lots of opportunities to get it caught on a press.

I knew an old electrician who used to wear his when he worked, until he got it caught between the hot post and the side of the box he was working in. He ended up losing his finger.

I caught my wedding band in the handle of a door at a diner and it snagged so that it yanked me backwards. The hot chick behind me thought I was being chivalrous and keeping the door open for her, but it was just my wedding band burying itself under the flesh on my finger. Damn, did that smart!

When I was married I wore mine all the time but my husband usually only wore his when we were out together or for special occassions, mainly because it was a huge ring with a large stone not suitable for everyday.

I'm married. Sometimes I wear my wedding rings, sometimes I don't. Depends on how much weight I'm carrying. They get tight when I pile on the pounds and so I have to take them off. I feel quite naked without them, actually.

These and other horror stories are why I don't wear mine around machines. Gold chain around the neck works just as well and I keep that tucked under my shirt.
