Do You Get A Gay Vibe From Watching Wesley ,And The Traveler?

^ ^ It's hard to sit back and let people say things I know aren't true. And I'm not talking about Robert, either. If that's "supporting" it, Stephanie, so be it. You'll notice I'm not doing a lot of quoting, though. There's a reason for that. ;)

Kate, I don't understand why people seem angry. If someone doesn't like something, sometimes it's better just to leave it and walk away. Not feel like a child who has to have the last word.

I sort of get what you're saying. And if anyone on this board who denies that there was ever a 'wesely is gay' vibe for that character certainly isn't being truthful.
What the fuck? When did you start your career as a mind reader? To insinuate that everyone who doesn't agree with you on this is lying is rather inane, don't you think?

I wouldn't have a problem with a gay character. (Quite the opposite actually.) What I have a problem with is the way TheMasterOfOrion is trying to stir up shit with the stupid things he is attributing to homosexuals. "Hanging out with your mommy" is gay? "Crossing your legs" is gay? "Walking with your arms folded over your nipples" is gay?

Tha board has a name for someone like TheMasterOfOrion. It's called a troll. ;)

I'm not attributing anything to homosexuals, I don't really know the homsexual community. What I am saying is this is the typical heterosexual stereotype of the gay person.

floppy wrists - gay/check
flamboyant fashion - check/gay
camp music, crossing your legs, being a hair stylist or spending too much time in front of the mirror putting on lip balm, not playing football, hanging out with your mommy everyday, not joining the army, not chasing women all the time, backing down from a brawl, crossing your arms in front of your chest while walking, wearing rainbow colored jumpers, not being able to catch a baseball....
..need I go on and list every stereotype and then describe in detail what ones Wesley Crusher fits into?

I don't see that at all.

Never saw anything gay with those 2.

Now were they meeting Judy Garland on the holodeck you'd have a case.

QFT.

I can't speak for anybody else, but I'm not angry. "Aggravated" describes it pretty well for me. But I can see why other people might get a lot more than merely aggravated.

I'm not aggravated either. Annoyed a bit? Yes.

Ah, let me go make sure I go play football and go join the army so I can meet my quota. Seriously? They're called stereotypes for a reason and stating a 'x is gay' based on essentially non-existent evidence based on stereotypes is ridiculous. There's no real proof. There is assumption based on observation based on (wait for it) stereotype.

From Wikipedia:
A stereotype is a preconceived idea that attributes certain characteristics (in general) to all the members of class or set. The term is often used with a negative connotation when referring to an oversimplified, exaggerated, or demeaning assumption that a particular individual possesses the characteristics associated with the class due to his or her membership in it. Stereotypes can be used to deny individuals respect or legitimacy based on their membership in that group.

Stereotypes often form the basis of prejudice and are usually employed to explain real or imaginary differences due to race, gender, religion, ethnicity, socio-economic class, disability, occupation, etc. A stereotype can be a conventional and oversimplified conception, opinion, or image based on the belief that there are attitudes, appearances, or behaviors shared by all members of a group. Stereotypes are forms of social consensus rather than individual judgments. Stereotypes are sometimes formed by a previous illusory correlation, a false association between two variables that are loosely correlated if correlated at all. Stereotypes may be occasionally positive.
Underlined emphasis mine.

Now were they meeting Judy Garland on the holodeck you'd have a case.

Now that was funny. :rommie:

Let's not go down that road of accusing people we disagree with as a troll. If you think a post is trolling, report it and I'll look at it.

And so far in this thread, and without mentioning any specific posters, we've had a lot of narrow-minded and/or juvenile posts but no out-and-out trolling in my opinion.

No, but I did get a gay vibe from Data and the Exocomps. All those attachments...

I sort of get what you're saying. And if anyone on this board who denies that there was ever a 'wesely is gay' vibe for that character certainly isn't being truthful. We have had many threads about Wesley's sexual preference. The thing is? Who cares.

...

I do deny that there was ever a "Wesley is gay" vibe. I'm being completely honest. Not once when I was growing up, did I ever consider Wesley was gay, or acted gay, or gave off some kind of gay "vibe". It didn't matter to me, I watched TNG for the stories and the characters, not their sexual orientation, and that's the truth.

Oh, and I liked the multicolor jumpers.

J.

Not Wesley and the Traveller.

But I always thought Geordi had a robo-sexual crush on Data. :guffaw:

I didn't get any vibe of any kind neither from Wesley Crusher nor from the Traveller. Both characters - in the ways they had been written and acted out - were simply way too drab, lacklustre and annoying (particularly in Wesley's case)...
