A Seasonal welcome to December’s 233rd Trek BBS Fan Art Forum Challenge! 🥳

Wrap up warm, grab some holiday treats and spend a little time escaping this Season's busyness by doing something artsy. 🧣🍫 🎨 🖌️
And whatever your results don't forget to post your final entries in this thread.

This month’s theme was chosen by vote from a list of Festive Themes especially curated for their holiday cheer and is described as …

A Prophecy Foretold
Portray a scene from a species's religious texts or show a character taking part in a spiritual activity, visiting a religious site, etc.

Y'know something told me this one would win. ;)
We've seen lots of religious sites and texts in Star Trek over the years. Perhaps it's been most extensively covered for the Bajorans with the Orbs and the Celestial Temple, but we also have Boreth for the Klingons and their now spiritual leader, the Emperor. Vulcan's and their Kahs-Wan. The Rules of Acquisition for the Ferengi and what could be more spiritual for them than entering the Tower of Commerce? But there's lots more species out there you could imagine new rites and rituals for, or maybe some of them have influenced or adopted Earth's religions and pilgrimages?

The Rules
  • the artwork you submit should be created during the month of the challenge
  • only one final image can be submitted (although it may contain multiple views)
  • your final entry should be posted in this thread (although dedicated WIP threads are appreciated)
The winner gets to wear the golden “Fan Art Challenge Winner” badge on their profile for the following month. Please help to decide on next month’s theme here.

You have until Tuesday, 31 December to share your final entry here in this thread. As always, if you have any questions or if you need more time, just let us know in this thread. :)

Looking forward to seeing your art. Happy Holidays! :bolian:

Can I clarify, @Harking Frequencies Open, are you posting that image solely as an example? Since it wasn't created during the month of the challenge it wouldn't usually qualify as an entry, unless we relax the rules. :)

Is anybody working on anything yet?

Some Trill have hired Cyrano Jones to take them from K-7 station to one of the "Guiding Stars". Bio-luminescent structures that radiate feelings of joy, peace, contentment and connectedness with all life. These structures grow naturally on the Trill homeworld and two exist in open space. Symbionts are especially susceptible to their influence and so joined Trill are particularly keen on spending time near them during their semiannual maximum luminescent phase.

Some psi powered species, like Betazoids report an increase in the natural sensitivity of their own abilities when near to one of the stars. So named because they resemble a twinking star, and led to a religious movement among Trill devoted to the Guiding Star of Peace and Oneness.

A happy new year to you guys! Hopefully 2025 will be as futuristic as we thought when we were kids. ;)

Almost on time for once … here’s my submission: A younger Tuvok in deep meditation during his Kolinahr ritual. I don’t love this one, but it was fun to experiment with ink and water. Hopefully I’ll get better at it eventually. :)

You might not love it, @Michael, but I do (we are are own worst critics). I particularly like the squiggles/swirls at the top that evoke Vulcan sigils - Was that deliberate or a happy coincidence?

I like that yours has a little story, @Tarek71 :bolian:

I wasn't going to take part in this challenge because I couldn't really get behind the theme, but then I had a last minute idea. So, here's my hasty effort: Divining the future with Betazoid tarot cards.

The way you used the orange filter here in combination with the black ink is really striking! I could see this being used as a style for an animated flashback sequence.

You're already off to an amazing start, Michael!

Great entries everyone! :techman:

I had hoped to find time to work on an entry between Christmas and New Year. I do have an idea so I'll extend the deadline by a couple more days, if I nothing is working out by then I'll post the voting thread without it.
