The one islander that has been on the apparent loose since our Oceanic survivors first arrived. The one person among the semi-recurring regular cast to not have her "story" explained or explored. Her reserach vessel that ran aground has not been visited unlike all other crafts the island has taken in. She has avoided or been avoided by either Dharma or Bens' Others for the last 16 years. In that time Lostzilla has also managed to not bring her down and she has avoided hungry polar bears and wild boar. The lone researcher of, again a presumed research vessel, to not go full blown crazy and die from the mystery island disease(which is a plot point thats gone away it seems). A research vessel, so it stands to reason she is an intelligent person and prior to being Rambina had a life as a researcher, white lab coats and all. Any reason she didn't try and research the island virus that drove her presumed friends crazy?

Danielle Rousseau: Dead or Alive?

 • Alive - She and Alex are taken by the sniper and she is nursed back to full health with her flashback and story to be explained.
 • Dead - She gets a flashback but it occurs during one of Bens. Its revealed she is an Other, but outcast and ostrisized. She has the branding mark on her back that we saw Juliet receive. She is a researcher but was perhaps the lone Dahrma person to survive, perhaps because of her thing with Ben. Yes this means Alex is Ben & Danielle's. Ben, as a Dharma operative, met her on the mainland as evidenced by the picture we saw.
I think she is a wildcard still to be explained whether it be dead or alive. I hope she is alive and not connected to Ben in anyway, even if Ben turns out to be a pseudo-good guy as he claims he is.

What is her story and is the island through with her???

if she is dead I will be really upset, not upset dramatically, upset at the writers, because the character hasn't had anything to do with anything. There should be more story about her including a flashback episode.

She spent too much time on the Island. The Island would have gotten rid of her a long time ago...

Pas Morte!

I'll be really sad if Danielle is dead. I feel like there's more to her than what we've seen so far. She deserves a flashback. She deserves a little more character development. And most of all, I think she's one character who deserves to be there in the very last episode, to be given, for the first time in 16 years, an opportunity to leave the island if she chooses to.

That is all.

:D

I'm hoping that she's still alive. I know the writers like the idea that no one is safe, but she still has a lot of potential (unless they abandon the idea of flashbacks entirely and just stick with flashforwards, I can't think of anyone besides Ben who would have a more interesting flashback).

My guess (maybe just wishful thinking) is that she's hurt and unconscious, but will recover after Alex is captured.

Since they didn't show holes getting blown through her body like they did with Carl, the mercs (something I like to call common sense says that's who the shooters are) will leave Danielle for dead when they kidnap Alex, and the island will heald her.

Also, she's the most deserving character who hasn't had a flashback yet.

She's also a character you'd think other characters would be asking more questions instead of, well, not asking. Like when Sawyer and Kate had Carl and neither one of them asked him what the Others are doing on the island in the first place.

Danielle is intriguing. Alex was either conceived off-island or she left the island before the usual date that pregnant women die on the island and then came back to the island with her baby. Why did Ben's group leave her alone to live by herself? Could be he didn't want to kill her because she is the mother of his child. It is very difficult to believe that Ben is actually Alex's father, but it appears that, biology aside, he does love her. And Danielle told the Losties that she knew he was an Other.
Danielle can't be dead because there is still so much to learn about her and she has that ability to bridge the gap between the different groups that no one else has.

She's definitely alive. She's a fairly significant character and I don't see her dying in such an abrupt manner at the end of an episode..

Wow. I'm the only one so far to vote "Dead". :wtf:

Admittedly I only saw the episode on a muddy standard definition broadcast (stupid DirecTV) but I'm pretty sure she got shot right in the chest. For anyone except Locke on this show that means "dead".

That doesn't mean they can't tell her story later. Look at all of the dead people we see on the show every week. Mr. Friendly's been dead for almost an entire season now.

There's no way she's dead. We were virtually promised a flashback episode.

Poor Karl, though... damn.

She can still have a flashback. Hell, Christian Shepard was dead before the show started and he's had more character development in other people's flashbacks than some of the regulars who are still alive.

I just think it's poor storytelling if they kill her now and wait a couple of seasons before revealing her backstory. I think how they have treated the whole Libby situation has been awful and I hope they don't fall into that rut again.

I think she's going to be ok based on this screen capture of where she got shot:

Good ole Lostpedia.
So her right side is pierced. I'm not a doctor so what internal organs are we talking about? A lung? I didn't think they were that low. Stomach is lower and more centered I thought. Kidneys are much lower I believe so maybe the liver or intestines?

What could be treated on the island with the docs we have and resources? Could internal bleeding be stopped?

Glad to see the poll so high with "NOT DEAD" votes.
"We will also find out who "seemingly killed" Karl and Rousseau

Seemingly killed? Lots of wiggle room there.
I dont know, there's plenty of precedent for writers just bumping off characters long before they have "exhausted" use for that character. It seems lazy and stupid at times but it definately fits their MO. I hope its not true this time though.

I wonder though if that is the description they(TV Guide) wrote sight unseen of the episode or if it is a description they were given(by ABC)?
