D or E?

I think the crash saucer was 10 feet. The forward edge model might've been 18 feet wide.
They must've built a huge mock-up for this scene as well:

The spacing of the letters seems to be off.
Frankly, that looks like a flat surface tilted at an angle and painted to look like it has a curvature.

Also, I would hope when they redid the paint job on the 6 for 'Generations' they would have redone the lettering.

It appears they used two different models for this scene...

AFIK they only used one model. The last "establishing image" of the crashed ship was likely a matte painting.

Praetor

Did you see this at the Vegas exhibit?

Alas, no.

Behold:

(And no, that's not me.)
If that saucer is 18 feet wide, then those people are giants.

I was mistaken - it's actually 12 feet. I knew something about that didn't seem right. :rommie: You may be right about the saucer-edge model but I can't find anything to confirm it.

Here's a screencap of it from this site (there are a few others on the page):

And here are two images from there of the six-footer being prepped for shooting:

I know that the 'section' itself is about a four-foot tall model. Someone bought it at the auction. There's an image of it floating around the web. I'm betting the hull is just a fake, a tilted flat plane surface.

Perhaps. I believe it is a static image that is just slightly panned. (It's been a while since I watched.) Either way, they might have used a photo to 'paint' the rest in.
