Cowboys Stadium

$50 ain't all that over the top compared to other stadiums. It was $40 to park at Gillette last year. Hence, I take the train to the game!

Really? Don't you feel ripped off when they charge you such outrageous sums for something as mundane as a parking space? Or are NFL games so expensive that 40 dollars more or less don't matter anyway?

No, I think its total highway robbery to charge people $40 just to park their car at the stadium. Like I said in my previous post, I take mass transit to the game so I don't have to deal with that crap. I also bring my own food so I don't have to pay $7 for a soggy tube steak.

The thing that makes the NFL a different animal than other sports is that there are only 8 home games. So it's already a premium. The tickets I have cost a face value of $119 each, as they are field level seats 9 rows back. But even an upper deck seat is around $75 or so.

I agree it can get pricey, but that's just the cost of going to a game. When they start to price me out, I just won't go. And I already refuse to spend any more than I have to. About the most I ever buy at a sporting even is a bottle of water at halftime.

It's an incredible, beautiful stadium, even if it is for the Cowboys. That said, I had to :guffaw: when Aikman and Buck were talking about the possibility of punting into the scoreboard, and then it actually happened! That's more highlights for a backup punter in this preseason than, well, ever.

Also pretty :shifty: that JJ response to Fisher's suggestion that it really needs to be raised has been "It's not a problem, so "

though fisher is on the compeition committee.

plus more important from what i have heard it isnt at it's promised according to specs sent to the nfl football game height.

what supposedly is going on is that it takes a lot of money to move it.
they have a concert in september and thought they could get away with having it at the height for concerts until then.

evidently jerry just admitted his ignorance about the importance of hang time.
or maybe the boys punter just dosnt have it in him.
:p

personally it would have been amusing as heck to bring ray guy in his prime and let him lose in that place.
he would have been smacking the middle of the screen.

oh yeah jerry further in his wisdom has the players walking admist the fans on the way to and from the field.
seperated just by a velvet rope.
including having them going through a bar.
can one just imagine the mood toward the end of the season if the boys have another collapse like the previous seasons.
;)

Feel free to google "Arlington Texas Mass Transit" or, better yet, visit the Cowboy's site and check the directions on how to get there.

:p
for titans games you can park for free in some lots across the river from the stadium.
and then either walk, ride one of the regular mta buses or a shuttle for about 12 round trip.

i dont know how much parking is on the coliseum grounds but about a block or so away parking is about 20.

oh yeah you can also take a train or the general jackson riverboat to games.

BAH! For the amount of money that Dallas/Arlington/FW put in this stadium, not to mention probably Texas, they could have bought their own freaking country. Or fed half the nation of Somalia.

Getting to/from Gillette car is a diaster, because the stadium is located in a fairly small town off a local road, several miles from the interstate.

They have 2 or 3 special gameday trains to run from various places and dump you off in the back of the parking lot. It's real crowded, but beats the altnerative.

They only kicked in $325 million, which is about the normal contribution one can expect these days. Jerry Jones personally ponied up the other $1.3 billion. I'd say the state of Texas got a hell of a deal on this one.

They don't even have buses? Something just seems weird about an expensive, brand new stadium, but no public transportation.

Yep, Arlington has no mass transit system. Traffic during a game is a nightmare, but since I live in Arlington, I know all the back roads.

The stadium is great. That scoreboard is a monstrosity, but damn does it look good. I liked the use of natural light to give the impression of at least somewhat of an outdoor field. It truly is a great stadium.

That being said, it really does feel very sterile. There just isn't much personality to it, but maybe that will come in time. It does feel very much like a rich man's stadium.

Oh, and parking is 75 dollars for the closer spots. It about 20-40 to park in the Rangers Ballpark parking lots.

The stadium scoreboard is 5 feet above the minimum in the NFL rules. The is no design flaw, but it is new technology which made the board possible at that size.

RAMA

yeah i read that.
and got some stuff turned around.
but this article adresses several things including a discussion that the minimum wasnt enough.

It is across the street from a Wal-Mart, how cool can it be?

Don't feel sorry for the people of Arlington, TX they got exactly what they wanted. They don't have a public transit system because they don't want a transit system because it attracts the "lesser" people. The voters have turned it down ever chance they get. They even turned down the train system between Dallas and Fort Worth. The deserve what they get.

I don't even want to imagine the traffic nightmare for a Cowboys game or the Superbowl. But hey at least the built the stadium on the old ghetto so everyone is happy.
