Christmas Watch 2016

Yes, I think they're taking this Christmas in July thing too seriously now. I actually saw Christmas departments go up in July. WHY???? who the--who is buying chocolates branded with red and green already?? The lights? The 6ft blow up yard santas? Must be Ned Flanders.

I bought my Holiday Barbie dolls in August. I usually get them when they come out.

Oh, yeah, well, technically I also buy my Star Trek ornaments in July or August or whatever month it is that Hallmark releases them in. That doesn't actually count, though, does it? :D

I had their pumpkin spice muffin the other day. It was good :D

I was actually in a Tim Horton's today, and was going to have a pumpkin spice muffin... but that location didn't have any pumpkin spice products!:scream:

I had to settle for a lemon poppyseed. Sure, it was still good, but... :sigh:

Speaking to the wife last night, where she works, the company will begin "dressing in" and selling christmas stock on the 19th.

The biggest problem I seem to have is where to hide the presents from the children. When they were tiny it was a piece of cake. My daughter even stumbled on them once when she was four and I lied and lied to convince her they were just empty boxes wrapped in paper to go under the tree down in the town centre (OK, my imagination got carried away but I was panicking about ruining her Christmas). Now she's ten and my son is eight it presents quite a challenge. The best place is the loft but then it's how you get them down on Christmas Eve without being caught in the act.

Sorry, a long ramble, but my point is I'm starting to think about what to do with the presents already!

I love how my folks stopped giving a damn when we were barely teens, opening the closet door, and behold Christmas gifts on the top shelf while brother and I were chatting across the room

Maybe complain to the manager? ;) Actually, it probably goes by popularity of location. More popular locations likely to get them first, with others to follow. I have to think selling them early is an option too.

Well, to be fair to them, it was one of their locations in a hospital, so they already carry limited stock compared to a full standalone location.

But, come on, it's pumpkin spice! If anything should make the cut into their limited stock selection, it should be that! :D

My wife once worked for a regional coffee chain, located in a hospital. She said more folks were asking for three or four shots of espressos, more than once a day.

It finally happened -- about two weeks ago the Dollar General stores had Christmas stuff for sale. Almot a full side isle. Not as early as last year.

Starbucks' totally-not-holiday-cups are pounding oversensitive God-botherers right in the feels.

On Tuesday, Starbucks announced a new limited-edition cup featuring a “mosaic of more than a hundred people drawn in one continuous stroke.” As you may have noticed, it’s green, unlike the traditional “red cups” the coffee company serves every year around the holidays.

And there’s a very simple reason why: These aren’t the holiday cups. Instead, they are meant to “celebrate community.”

“During a divisive time in our country, Starbucks wanted to create a symbol of unity as a reminder of our shared values, and the need to be good to each other,” Starbucks CEO and Chairman Howard Schultz said in a press release.

There was literally no mention of the green cups being for Christmas, but people assumed they were and got reeeeally offended.
A green "holiday" cup that has nothing to do with season? Not even snowflake!?!? Over the top with "PC" don't offend anyone BS @Starbucks

And it goes downhill from there.

I literally just picked up Starbucks and thought it was the new holiday cup. I thought it looked awesome but the barista told me what it was for. I actually said to her, to bad I would love to see the conniption people would have, because of the red cup last year.
