Cast the Characters of Trek Literature

Vladimir Kulich is pretty much dead on perfect for LJ Akaar, in my opinion.

Shifting gears to the Sherman & Schwartz books, how about Jeffrey Donovan for Ruanek?

And here's a quick photomanipulation job of how Donovan as Ruanek might look:

and just for the hell of it, Kulich as LJ Akaar:

Akaar's supposed to have longer hair, i think, but other than that, fantastic work! Especially the Romulan bloke, though I have no idea who he is.

Nice. Would you mind doing me a favor, could you put Amanda Tapping in a read or gold starfleet uniform and turn Vincent Kartheiser into Shar? I've always wanted to get myself some kind of a picture of somebody as those two characers. If you don't want too or don't have time I more than understand. I've wanted to do it myself, but I don't have any photo-manip software. The only reason I ask is because those are absoultely awsome!

If you mean the character, it's Ruanek, who appears in Vulcan's Forge, Vulcan's Heart, and the Vulcan's Soul trilogy. If you mean the actor, it's Jeffrey Donovan, currently the lead in the USA series Burn Notice.

JD, if you have photomanip requests, I suggest stopping by the Star Trek Photomanipulation Archive forums at www.stpma.net. They're a friendly lot, and there's a lot of folks over there who love doing this kind of thing and would be happy to whip something up.

I meant both actually. Although now that you mention it, I do remember him being in a Dominion War story and I have seen the trailers for that show. Thought he was hot then too.

Cripes! I was picturing a bigger, meaner version of Craig T Nelson as Admiral Akaar, but your guy is spot on.

Claudia Christian as Charvanek

But Charvanek is the same Romulan Commander that Joanne Linville played in "The Enterprise Incident." While I suppose she bears a slight facial resemblance to Christian, she's much slighter and has a completely dissimilar voice.

What book(s) is this? Vanguard?

The Romulan Commander is named Charvanek in Dwellers in the Crucible, Section 31: Cloak, Vulcan's Forge, Vulcan's Heart, and the Vulcan's Soul trilogy. There may have been one or two others.

No, I don't think the name Charvanek was used in Dwellers. She's just "the Commander" there. "Charvanek" was coined by Sherman & Shwartz in honor of "Charvon," the name she was given in the Bantam Phoenix novels.

Well, the Vulcan's Noun novels - the ones that Charv appears in, anyway - take place many years after TOS. A lot can change in that time...

Oops, thanks. It's been a long time since I've read Dwellers in the Crucible.

Well... I'll grant that Linville isn't as much shorter than Christian as I'd imagined:

She looks about 5'7" there (Shatner's 5'10"), and Christian is 5'9". But the voices are completely different. If anything, Linville reminds me strongly of Captain Janeway.

I have been reading Articles of the Federation earlier today, and I was wondering how to imagine the 2 Betazoid students in Chapter 7. I am not sure which actresses would be cast as them...
Does anyone else have an idea, on who would play them?
