#2 sooooooo..... Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow finds La'an & Kirk back in time...... I NEED to know way way way more about Pelia and watch that watch eh!! lol
I am BUSTING for more of SNW way more than i thoought I would... i was a bit Meh about it tbh so glad i was bored lol

I admit after season two I’m kind of meh on Pelia and Carol Kane. There’s just something a little off about her portrayal and while the idea of a centuries old character is interesting on paper, they never really did anything super worthwhile with it. Then there’s Kane’s line delivery, which always seems like she’s struggling hard to get out each single piece of dialog. I don’t really mind her either, but let’s just say I wouldn’t be sad to see her being written out at some point. Do we know if she’ll be in the third season yet?

Oh, I do remember Carol Kane from previous roles — found her hilarious in the classic “Scrooged” with Bill Murray, for example — but it didn’t seem like she struggled with getting out lines back then as she does now. This is not meant as a slight against her, I’m sure she’s a cool person. I just find her performance a little odd on Strange New Worlds. And again, I don't really mind her either, considering how little she was in the season, too.

I kind of feel that the only reason Kane is in the show is because someone in the production is doing her a favor. It’s not all that different from Whoopi Goldberg, except that Pelia is nowhere near as interesting a character or as well-written as Guinan. She’s basically Simka Gravas in space, mixed with the idea that she comes from a long-lived alien race, but even that totally has the feel of ‘we’ve done this before with Guinan,’ only with much better effect with Goldberg. I find her character very annoying and self-serving, unlike Guinan. Pelia acts like a smug know-it-all, while Guinan was far more reserved.

This seems to be an unpopular opinion, but I honestly really dislike her character. I'll admit I wasn't really familiar with her prior to this show, so I had thought her line delivery was a choice for this character, but it seems this is just her normal acting cadence. It just makes her feel... comical in a way that I don't think they intend for her to be, and I have a hard time reconciling her with the other events going on. I also think they introduced Lanthanites solely to give Laan and Kirk someone to reach out to when trapped back in time.

I don't think they've said anything either way, but with Scotty now being cast and having a prominent role, I suspect she'll leave pretty quickly into season 3. Their first engineer only lasted a season, so they could continue that trend (although something tells me this Scotty guy might stick around).
