Re: Building the inner command level. Chair/helm et al.

For the chair is almost done and i have built an astrogator.

A Whole New Astrogator & Chronometer.

Ok, here goes...

Ive rebuilt the entire astrogator as whatever i did, i couldnt rectify the measurement error on the switch panel.

I have also started to build the chronometer.

The details are STUPIDLY small, but it had to be done...

Heres the entirely new astrogator. You can see the difference in the dimensions.

now the chronometer...

23rd Century iPods - Boring Voyages Now A Thing Of The Past

^^^ LOL.

As promised, Shatmandu, we now have the univereses first iPod docking station.

No longer will tedious five year voyages be boring as hell, now you can plug you music/videos in and blare it out over the bridge.

This is my own 23rd century iPod design. Not that special, but it had to change for the future at least.

Sweet.

I'm guessing Kirk would have his filled with Porno soundtracks. "Chicka-wow, chick-wow . . ."

Re: 23rd Century iPods - Boring Voyages Now A Thing Of The P

Sorry about the double post, guys. I have no idea in hell how that happened.

anyway, yeah, i might even play around with the display a bit, get some 23rd century Illegal Orion porn or something.

Research on porn music, see waht i can find. Or i can just put some cheesy 80's electro pop, thats porno sounding enough.

Looks great! As I understand it the armrest controls could vary from episode to episode, so if you want, it might be cool to model all the "armrest options" as swapable components so you can render variations of the chair "as seen in" such-and-such episode.

The actual chair is in the Science Fiction Museum in Seattle and has the left armrest from "Turnabout Intruder" and the right armrest customized by the person who possessed the chair before Paul Allen bought it.

I dont suppose, Magic_Al, that you have any screencaptures from turnabout Intruder. Or anyone for that matter.

I dont have season three on dvd, so if the interfaces changed, could someone gladly pm me with a cap or something. Pleeeeeeease.

that way, if i can, ill do ALL configurations from the series. I have yet to do The Cage chair aswel, its not just the WNMHGB chair, it has different interface panels, the seat is more forward, the collumn is completely different and its battleship grey/silver.

Again, if anyone can get clear enough captures of the panels in the cage, i would be more than grateful.

By the way...

Those details are so stupidly small, that Rhino (The software) didnt allow me to do the details corectly, so this is the only part of the model that ISNT correctly to scale, its a few measurements out to be precise.

Besides, watch 'The Naked Time' or 'The Corbomite Maneuver', the details are way way to small to look at with the naked eye let alone on screen.

Besides, as with most TOS sets, the details were just bought from hardware stores (Apart from the screens/touch displays and resin buttons) and slapped on the sets for aesthetics. So i wouldnt be at all surprised if this chronometer was an actual clock face that could be bought or part of, say, a trucks dashboard or something similar.

the functions displayed look pretty close to 20th century analogue clocks, besides, there are no stardate displays or anything so it suggests that might have been bought and used. The production companies couldnt imagine that in 40 years, fans would scrutinise every detail for such things so i doubt they gave a flying fu*k.

Looks good enough, though. Im not gonna give two shits either way, its not as if im modelling it for a CGI award or anything, its just a hobby.

That i-pod dock should be CG'd into Trek Remastered. Trek will gather a whole new fan base.

Appollogies for not updaing this thread, guys, especially if anyone has bookmarked the thread watching for updates.

Ive been having major software problems recemtly and i havnt been able to render the models progress, i can only build.

Ive got the new edition of the software but havnt installed it as yet, but im working on it.

then hopefully i can build the helm/nav console.

The new software also enables a more realistic rendering process with new light sources/types and surface textures, so hopefully it will look a little more authentic as the software i have been using (The old version) is three years old.

Watch this space.

Chris.

Also, keeping the thread alive for new posters/members and updates. ;)

Mirror Mirror 'throne'

Ooooooooooh, i just found a render i forgot i had done.

Its an alteration for the chair featured in the classic episode, Mirror, Mirror.

Kirk in the chair in episode:

Chair on its own:

Now, please note, this is FAR from perfect. I havnt got any drawing to work from for this extension. It isnt final, i dont think i saved it as it was only a test to see what it would look like.

Anyway, here they are...

At some point, i plan to do an almost completly different chair for the Mirror Mirror version, just to rough it up a little to make it more, well, alternate universe like.
