Canadian 2021 Federal Election

I mentioned earlier that we had 2 visits from the same party. Well, make that 3 as of today. I didn't think campaign offices were allowed to campaign the day-of, but we heard a knock on the door, didn't answer it right away, but they'd left one of those doorknob thingies. Sounds very desperate. Ironically enough, we've hardly heard from any of the other parties.

Again, not very efficient. In fact, it would make me question the management at the campaign office. If it's going to be this way now, I'd hate to see the circus it would be if elected as it's giving me serious reservations.

My riding went heavily in favour of our NDP incumbent, keeping our federal orange streak from 2006 onwards alive and well.

So, in other words, back to the status quo? :D

Pretty much, except now we're $600 million poorer! :ouch:

Welp! I don't regret voting by mail now. Heard the lineups were crazy at polling stations.

Yes, those 3+ hour lineups they were reporting on in Toronto sounded awful. I'm not in Toronto, so I imagine it wasn't nearly as bad here, but still no regrets for me either. I don't like crowds at the best of times, and the process was so simple, I might even consider doing it again even when there's no pandemic! :)

There were no lineups here. The polling station they have set up at one of the local churches was fairly quiet. We got in and out fairly quickly, 5-min tops.

We went on the friday of the advance polling and had a 10minute wait.

I walked past the location on Monday running an errand and first time there was no body lined up and the second time there were maybe 10 people.

Bit of accessiblity fail though. They wanted people to come in one door and leave by another. Problem is the exit door was to a deck and with stairs and no ramp.

We had manageable lineups at my local polling station, and everyone seemed to be respecting Pandemic protocols for the most part. We'll know for certain about that aspect of things in about two weeks, I expect.

As for the results as announced and published thus far: I think we dodged the worst-possible-case bullets, at least for now. Trudeau's still useful, so long as we keep him properly managed through minority-government.

though he might not have to worry about o'toole - there are tories already baying for his blood (especially the ones who don't like the moderate direction he's lead the party in)

And I am still of the mind that we dodged the worst possible outcomes this time over a month later. The complaints I have about the consequences, I'll save for the Maple Leaf Lounge thread.
