Hey, all,

So I got a new computer a while back with Windows 10. When I tried to load that great old "Birth of the Federation" game up into it, I got the dreaded "Not supported" message. I realize the sucker's over 20 years old at this point but it's still a great time waster.

Please help.

I can't be bothered these days messing to get older games to run on todays harware and all i can hope for is that they eventaully appear on GOG, and BOTF has over 4000 votes and is 5th on the voted wishlist of Trek games to appear GOG with the Armarda games sitting at over 8000, so fingers crossed.

BOTF isn't that hard to get running on Windows Vista / 7, so you might be in luck.

Armada Fleet Command basically has an all-in-one installer for it.

BOTF is one of the reasons why I still have Windows 7.

One solution is to have two computers, one with Windows 10 and one with Windows 7 or Windows XP for the good, old games.

When Microsoft stops supporting Windows 7 with security updates, that's exactly what Im' gonna do.

It's been 5 years and the original poster might have already found a solution or moved on. However, for anyone else who happens to come across this thread and is looking for a solution to running "Birth of the Federation" on Windows 10, I would still suggest trying compatibility mode or using a virtual machine.
