rewatching Beyond on blu and the scene at the end of Spock looking at the Trek V crew photo got me imagining if they'd done the Beyond story for Trek V instead of lets meet god. (still directed by Shatner of course but with ILM doing the FX)
-Sean Connery as Krall (he reads the script and likes it so much he chooses to do Trek V over Last Crusade)
-David Warner as Manas. Caithlin Dar as Kalara. Spice Williams as Jaylah
-No CG dogs opening. Instead cat alien makeup
-No CG snow globe Syd Mead space station. Yorktown would be a huge Cloud City type space station above a federation planet (ILM models & matte paintings)
-No swarm/destruction of the Enterprise A. Instead Krall and his army hijacks the ship (similar way to Trek V) and maroons the crew on the planet (Trona Peaks- as used at end of Trek V and in the Rihanna Beyond music video)
-No evel knievel bike stunts. Instead Shatner Kirk finds an alien unicorn on the planet (like Trek V) and rides it into battle
-Kirk and Co blast off in the Franklin to stop the Enterprise A from destroying the Yorktown. engaging it in a ship to ship battle like Trek II only more action (Kirk vs the Enterprise commandeered by 007!) Kirks superior knowledge defeats Krall who beams over to the space station with the device
-No gravity acrobatics end fight. Instead Shatner v Connery (Kirk v Bond) in a fist fight to the death in the vast vertigo inducing blue lit interior of the Cloud City type space station complete with hanging over endless drops etc like the end of Empire Strikes Back minus lightsabres (Connery eventually gets sucked out into space with the abawhatsit device)
-Ends with the crew watching the Enterprise A being repaired from the window
