Best Trek Ship Explosions

I'd like to present to you, my favorite Star Trek ship explosions of all time (other than the destruction of the USS Enterprise refit in Star Trek III, the Enterprise-D stardrive section exploded and the saucer crashing into the planet in Star Trek Generations and the Voyager crashing into the Krenim Temporal Ship).

The USS Grissom destroyed by the Klingon bird of prey near Genesis in Star Trek III: The Search for Spock.

The USS Odyssey destroyed by the Jem'Hadar attack ship in DS9: The Jem'Hadar.

The USS Equinox destroyed by the aliens in Voyager: Equinox.

The Klingon bird of prey destroyed by the USS Enterprise-A and the USS Excelsior in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country.

The Scimitar destroyed by Lt. Commander Data in Star Trek: Nemesis.

The

Ferengi shuttle destroyed by an explosion in TNG: The Perfect Mate.

The Cardassian warship destroyed by the Klingons in DS9: The Way of the Warrior.

The assimilated transport Arctic One destroyed by NX-01 in Enterprise: Regeneration.

The Merchantman destroyed by the Klingon bird of prey in Star Trek III: The Search for Spock.

That's a good list. But my favorites are the various destructions of the Enterprise-D in Cause and Effect and the beautiful special effect of Deep Space Nine exploding in Visionary. Great FX work!

The USS Kelvin destroyed ramming Nero's Narada in Star Trek.

Mine too. Definitely the coolest explosions I've seen in Star Trek (I like them even better than any explosions in the movies, even though they were done on a TV budget) and a great cliffhanger and "WTF" moment every time they did one. I think part of why they looked so cool was the story that the explosion effect was achieved by loading the model of the Enterprise with firecrackers. On days like that, wokring on Star Trek must have felt like the most fun job in the world.

I always liked the borg cube in bobw. The one in FC is probably cooler as it takes out a Fed ship in the process

I voted for Grissom, but I should have looked at the pics to refresh my memory better. I think I'd say the Odyssey. But they were all good.

- Vor'cha getting rammed by Jem'Hadar attack ships ("Tears of the Prophets")
- Akira going down against OWP ("Tears of the Prophets")
- The Sitak and the Majestic. ("Sacrifice of Angels")
- The USS Defiant against the Breen. ("Changing Face of Evil")
- Breen ship getting torpedoed ("Changing Face of Evil")
- The "exploding" Jem'Hadar battleship. ("Valiant")
- USS Melbourne, Excelsior class against the Borg. ("Emissary")
- USS Enterprise self destruct ("Search for Spock")

That's the one i love the best too. I don't like when they go up in a ball of light with no parts flying. Cause and effect had that realistic feel where it was a chain reaction of explosions starting from the damaged nacelle.

It was so good they reused the same footage in Generations

Those were good. (Wasn't one of the shots from "Cause and Effect" reused for the long distance explosion from "The Jem'Hadar" as the Odyssey?)

Given the choices, I liked the Equinox. I like the way it sort of spun out on the one nacelle, and the way the music hits that sad note when it explodes. The BoP from TUC gets points, but they also get taken away since it was reused.
