B'Ellana's hair line

Refuge

Vice Admiral
Admiral
Watching through again and I swear B'Ellana had a less attractive hair line in the beginning. I mean she was still pretty for a Klingon, had much better teeth that's for sure.

The hair styles for the women were very Sixties inspired in my opinion. Janeway with the teased swept back bun, Samantha Wildman's, similar. B'Ellana and her bob. Seven with that almost beehive thing.

I think her forehead ridges seemed more harsher or more pronounced (they seemed to stand out more IMO) in the earlier seasons or she one less ridge in the later seasons.

Definitely something softer about her look later on. She also had wavier hair at one stage.

Totally shallow comment but she has the perfect mouth.

Star Trek has never been very good with hair. Janeway in the later season wasn't terrible. Kes just looked like she had a helmet on and i never loved B'elannas hair. The twist on Seven was ok i guess

I was more distracted with her very crooked eyes.
I liked her character most when she was separated into a pure human and a pure klingon. The pure klingon version of B'Ellana was great, they should've kept her and and killed off the wimpy human version of her instead.

The whole point of that was to show the tensions of her personality-her Klingon assertiveness and violence meshing with her human frailty and intelligence.

Roxann Dawson often talks about early makeup tests that were more Klingon with false teeth and how horrible they looked.

I'm glad they compromised with her look, it fitted her character. Much like Voth says it reflected her inner struggles.

The thing is if B'Elanna had those Klingon teeth she, the character, would have gotten them humanized long ago in the super insta dentistry of the future.

Prediction: B'Elanna's daughter goes full Klingon to rebel when she's a teen and body mods her teeth into Klingon feral fangs.
Well teenagers do like to rebel. If teenage Miral wanted to do something to piss off her mother going full Klingon would

I just dyed my hair purple and pierced some things ;)

Shooting from the hip here but I think B'Elanna had an extra ridge in the beginning. That is part of the reason the bob looks so extreme in season 1 (and 2?). She is beautiful and well acted!

Janeway's best hair was Year of Hell. I loved the short "get to work" look.

Kes looked good in Scorpion with the long curly hair. That is when the character got interesting too. Too bad. They didn't seem to know what to do with her until the very end.

Seven just always looked great. Thankfully Jeri Ryan is a talented actress too!

Well, it's more original than a topic about Janeway's hairdo :)

Just a wild guess, but perhaps she and the Doc smuggled with that extra ridge when she was re-integrated at the end of 'Faces' ?:) She always wanted to be more human, after all :)

It looks like in season 1 she had 4 ridges and in 7 she had three. However her hair/wig changed several times so it may be that her hair is covering her top most ridge. But personally i like the later look better

Amazing!

B'Elanna lost one of her ridges!

As I always try to find a logical explaination for odd things and contradictions in the series (see the Kes Website and the page "Voyager mysteries-and how to solve them) I guess that this happened because B'Elanna was split into two persons by the Vdiians in "Faces".

When The Doctor was restoing B'Elanna by putting her Klingon DNA back in her, there obviously were some leakage and some of it wemt missing. Therefore B'Elanna became more human during the coming months and one ridge dissapeared. The hair change was also a result of that.

I liked B'Elanna's more Klingon look from season 1 better.

Kes was also better in seasons 1 and 2. The short hair was a trademark for the character.

She liked the short hair enough that she went back to it, as we see in season 6, in your favorite episode.

I think B'elanna started waxing her eyebrows as she got more comfortable on the ship. Thinner eyebrows became more popular in the later 90's...I mean 2370's.

Her look became more "human" aground season four. Coincidentally that's when she started dating Tom. Perhaps she was taking more tine with her personal appearance once she was dating. I know for myself when I am in a relationship I put more effort into my appearance.

If you hair like hers all it takes is a sonic shower and a little engine grease
I have honestly thought about cutting my hair in a similar style to hers in season 7 but I didn't think it would be flattering with my face shape....but I did model my current hair cut with her longer style from her older self in Endgame (minus the grey)
