His development contract would be with Fox the production company, not Fox the television network. Two separate entities (hence Buffy/Angel from said production company being on WB/UPN).Doesn't he have a development contract with Fox though? I thought he still had to do two more shows with them.
Joss agreed to do Dollhouse mainly as a favor to Eliza, so I hear.

Nobody is going to commit that amount of time and effort as a "favor".
That's what he says. After the death of Drive, which I'm pretty sure was under the current regime, I'm loath to get my hopes up.I also thought he didn't have as big a problem with Fox anymore because the people who were running the network during the Firefly debacle were no longer there.

The story goes that Eliza Dushku told Joss that she was under contract to do a show for fox, and asked him to produce it so that she'd know it would be good.

Were "those assinine morons that cancelled [Firefly] themselves fired for incompetence"?
Had "Serenity" aired as the opener, they might well have been singing a different tune.^^ True, but people act like it was otherwise, when Fox killed the show it wasn't like all the SF fans were in agreement about it being a good show.
But if they didn't retitle it, people would have thought it was some stupid animal documentary!Renaming the film X-Men Origins: Wolverine set off the first set of alarms.

Honestly, I was at school when Firefly aired, so I didn't get to see it until a couple years later when I bought the DVDs. I ended up watching every single episode straight through in one day.^^ True, but people act like it was otherwise, when Fox killed the show it wasn't like all the SF fans were in agreement about it being a good show.

Agreed. Browncoats love their revisionist history. Although, many of the ones that I've met seem to live in a completely different reality from our own, so maybe they're accurate in their wacky world. (Also, according to them, Nathan Fillion is bigger than Jesus.)
