Bad News for "Wolverine"

Doesn't he have a development contract with Fox though? I thought he still had to do two more shows with them.
His development contract would be with Fox the production company, not Fox the television network. Two separate entities (hence Buffy/Angel from said production company being on WB/UPN).

Ah, makes sense, I get them mixed up sometimes but I know I'm not the only one.

look at the bright side, titling it "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" brings the Marvel comic "Wolverine:Origins" one more step towards it's much deserved cancellation.

...I still don't understand how they messed that title up so much...

Joss agreed to do Dollhouse mainly as a favor to Eliza, so I hear.

Nobody is going to commit that amount of time and effort as a "favor".

The story goes that Eliza Dushku told Joss that she was under contract to do a show for fox, and asked him to produce it so that she'd know it would be good.

Apparently Joss came up with the Dollhouse premise within the hour, and had it pitched and bought by Fox within the week. Or so I recall. The looming writer's strike no doubt helped with the quick purchase.

I'm sure he wouldn't do a project this big if he didn't want to, but the instigation of the whole deal was still the favor thing. Actually, the way Joss seems when he talks about Dollhouse, it's as if he's stumbled onto another great idea, but is trying very hard not to fall in love with it again, just in case it has a similar lifespan to his last big thing.

I also thought he didn't have as big a problem with Fox anymore because the people who were running the network during the Firefly debacle were no longer there.

That's what he says. After the death of Drive, which I'm pretty sure was under the current regime, I'm loath to get my hopes up.

Yeah, that was annoying, but to be fair....the ratings were fairly bad.

Were "those assinine morons that cancelled [Firefly] themselves fired for incompetence"?

^^ True, but people act like it was otherwise, when Fox killed the show it wasn't like all the SF fans were in agreement about it being a good show.

Had "Serenity" aired as the opener, they might well have been singing a different tune.

Agreed. Browncoats love their revisionist history. Although, many of the ones that I've met seem to live in a completely different reality from our own, so maybe they're accurate in their wacky world. (Also, according to them, Nathan Fillion is bigger than Jesus.:p)

Honestly, I was at school when Firefly aired, so I didn't get to see it until a couple years later when I bought the DVDs. I ended up watching every single episode straight through in one day.

Well, I was just quoting Futurama with my previous comment, so it can't really be taken seriously :p

(However, Nathan Fillion might not be bigger than Jesus, but he should be, damnit!)

Well, not to drag this thread further off topic, but so far I've managed to convert all three people who I've shown Firefly - that's not including my own brother, so make it 4 unofficially. Not that those three people would've made jackshit difference to Firefly being cancelled or not, them all being here in New Zealand for one. I suppose FF eventually being screened here in its intended order is a small comfort, tho it being 10.30pm on Tuesdays in early 2005 isn't as much.

In contrast, I've only managed to convert my girlfriend to Star Trek so far.
