Attention people! Please read!!!

I'm in Connecticut, far from Trekker and Spot's Meow both and I've heard people pronounce Valentime's more often than I care to recall. I just want to shake them like a British nanny.... Ax instead of ask, pitcher instead of picture, excape instead of escape. I'm very glad Trekker started this thread. That is all.

Heh...one of Tracy's "posse" just referred to it as "Valentimes" on tonight's episode of 30 Rock. :p

Ah yes, those would be the 'Amurcans', from the UniNed States of Amurca (no wonder they can't find it on a map).

I don't begrudge those who, whether through their fault or not, lacked a truly decent education in the English language. It is something that many schools and parents here (especially those from lower income areas) have fallen behind on. Honestly though, most of them are just lazy asses who just can't be bothered (or bovvuhed ). If English is your first language, you have no excuse and an obligation to the innocent people unfortunate enough to have to hear you to do better.

I have every confidence, despite it all, that the world will continue spinning for many more Valentimes to come. Isil'zha veni!

I don't think I've ever heard Valentimes before. It must be a regional dialect/accent thing. What regions are people who hear it coming from?

When I was a kid, I thought it was War War II because of the way people would pronounce World War II.

I can't pronounce the word colloquial to save my life. I know what it's supposed to sound like, but whenever I try to say it, my tongue has a nice trip last fall all over it.

EDIT: Of course, I just tried it now, and got it right the first time.
