I love the WDW people mover. No moving parts, apart from the wheels, it's all induction motors. There's an airport in Texas, Houston Hobby I think? That has another disney people mover they built for them. Supposedly Disney considered going into business making them or licensing them but there was no demand and that's the only other one that got made.I wonder if Disney gets a royalty off every fare. lol I never went to WDW Orlando but I remember the PM at DL CA.
train or horizontal elevator? I love people-movers. I don't know if it is rational or not. Morgantown, West Virginia might have the most interesting people mover of all.

I saw that vid too. Aren't there laws or rules that say they have to be aware of train schedules and traffic patterns and whenever possible, move that kind of thing at night? So uh, this happened about a mile down the road from my house, today. dozens of rail cars and engines derailed. Luckily, from what I hear, no one got killed. Going to be taking an alternate route to work, for awhile.
that's what everyone is wondering. the bridge/viaduct project down the road has been going in for awhile and periodically they have to transport these things, but I don't understand why they did not contact Norfolk and Southern, why there wasn't an escort vehicle, etc. repair work is already underway, and most of the derailed cars have been removed. so much for betting a piece of track to cut down as a poor man's anvilI saw that vid too. They also tried the same with gas turbines which have about the same problems as steam turbines, they also got combined with generators and so on.

Or use a huge piston engine with a huge propellor

That could have been an even bigger mess with tanker cars. I think some trucks haul molten aluminum on the highways:Your Swiss Rolls and oatmeal pies may be delayed.

depending on how long you're in NY, you could try the New York Metro North. The Hudson line is pretty, and if you're not riding at a peak time, not too crowded.I've never taken a trip via Train. I think that's something I really want to do. I'm not talking about trains being public transportation (Even though I found out I'm going to New York in May and would like to take the Subway), but a cross state/country train trip would be kinda cool.
