Another new game in development

The headline of the article is:

Star Trek PC/Console Story Driven Game in Development at Jumpgate’s GameXcite”

I saw, it says in the text that the company has a rogue-lite game in development based on an IP. Something that can be very easily ported from mobile to PC/console or the reverse.

I wouldn't hold my breath on expecting anything great from this announcement.

You might be right but a strange assumption based on just the genre. Returnal is a rouge-lite and isnt even available for the PS4 generation and is a AAA game.

Also the bit about a rouge-lite game in the article is clearly conjecture from the author and not from the announcement.

Rogue-lite games seem to transfer easily from PC/Console space to Mobile and back fairly easy and quickly. If it gets scheduled to release in the next year, then it is some kind of port from one to the other.

Depends on the game not the genre. Like I said Returnal is Rougelite, was released on PS5 in 21, PC in 23 and there’s not any chance of a mobile port.

We never seem to get anything great with star trek game announcements. A shame really.

The best Star Trek game I've seen over, god, the last decade is Star Trek: Legends for iOS and, now, PC.

Just a mindless clicking game, but it is a decent time waster.

I enjoyed the 25th anniversary and judgement rights games. I keep hoping fir a realistic TOS walk through for modern gaming but never seem to get it.

I remember playing 25th Anniversary for the NES (I still have the cartridge). It was pretty faithful to the show, considering the limitations of the hardware.

^ The NES game is quite a bit of a different game compared to its PC counterpart, and only shares the name :) Still pretty fun though, and it almost never gets mentioned when people talk about 25th Anniversary.

Great games. They came out when star trek was at a absolute high. The TOS movies ended in a high note and TNG was at its most popular for its show run. I just wish the powers that be would have kept going. We have gotten a few great games over the years since like the voyager shooter game where you could walk through the ship and fight the borg but the really great ganes like that are just far and few between. I doubt we will ever see a modern true tos game where we can walk the ship like the voyager game.

Definitely an underserved market.

I am playing bridge commander with a mod, it has a lot of bugs.

I have a question about the game, is it only shooting or also exploring space?
I am about 4 hours in and am only fighting other ships

At its heart, it's mostly a tactical ship combat game. It was meant to put players in the hotseat. Kind of like Starfleet Academy in that sense.

That is a little bit disappointing, because the shootings are getting bored quickly. And because you can't manually save the game, and in those 4 hours I was maybe kicked out of the game 5 or 6 times because of the bugs. So I have to do a lot of missions over again.
