Amazing Race - Week of 4/19

Victor's not nearly as annoying as he was in the early episodes. Maybe that big screw-up of his in Romania actually did have an effect on him.

I just noticed something interesting last night. Aside from that Romania leg where they finished 8th, Tammy and Victor haven't finished any worse than 3rd place in every other leg. Wow.

Found that out when I went back and was reading about all the past seasons of TAR so far. The only ones I've missed are Season 3, Season 8 (the family edition, which I don't mind missing), and Season 13. I really want to go back and rewatch Season 1 again for some reason, but I think it's silly to buy DVD sets for a reality show. :p

My mom and I were just talking about how much we really liked the family edition and wish they would do a show within the U.S. again. I concluded that we liked it so much because we don't care that much about the travel aspect of the show - we watch it more for the people interaction. And we really liked it within the U.S. because we got to see places that we've been before, which was a lot more exciting to me than seeing places that I've never been to. I also liked four people on a team, it was an interesting dynamic.

Anyway, Victor annoyed me in the beginning as well but he seems to have come around in the past few episodes. I don't really want any of the remaining teams to win. Maybe Keisha and Jen, just because they are the only likeable ones left. The thing about Victor and Tammy is that they are such spoiled brats. It's obvious that they come from a wealthy family and haven't been denied much in their lives. That kind of attitude is irritating and a little arrogant.

^ The travel aspect is at least half of the reason why I watch, personally. If they set another season entirely within the US I probably wouldn't watch. Just wouldn't interest me the same.

Indeed - I think SM's opinion would be in the minority. Everybody I know who watches the show watches BECAUSE of the travel aspect. It's just SO interesting to see other places around the world and, for some people(just like the contestants), it can broaden your horizons.

Yep, I watch it for the travel and exotic locations. I don't really care about listening to two people bickering and snapping at one another all the time. :p

It's my favorite game show on TV.

But you have you remembered it's edited so you'll love or hate each team at varying times. For example, they can amp up the "redemption" of Victor just by putting in more positive stuff and editing the bad stuff.

I'd like to see a two-person team AR exclusively in the U.S.

I think a 2-person-team race in the US could be quite good if they chose interesting locations and tasks. I thought those were the biggest problems with the family edition. "Drive through flat, boring areas of the South until you find a giant chair at the side of the road then drive to a mobile home dealer." WHAT?!?

Anyone remember that cheesily fun reality show from a couple summers back called, I think, "Treasure Hunters"? If you took away the "National Treasure"-style gimmicks, it was essentially "The Amazing Race" in the US and was very enjoyable.

So, CBS has renewed TAR for another season. Sweet! You think they're going to air it in the fall, or mid-season like this edition?
