2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar - Thread

From what little I understand, there's no particular human rights abuses going on right now. It's a country where the monarchy wields a significant amount of power but seems to be reasonably wielding it compared to some other Arab world monarchies and other dictatorships. It's no Canada but also no Iran?

Okay, I'll jump on the Morocco bandwagon.

Good to see Argentina is in the final. Just like in the 1990 World Cup, Argentina lost the opening game but they manage to make it to the WC final.

Go Argentina.

VAR not giving Morocco a clear penalty is just another suspect VAR call that screams FIFA trying to nudge what teams it wants to progress at times. Blatant penalty.

I figured France would put an end to Morocco's Cinderella story, but to be honest, I think this is Argentina's year. Either way, this is going to be an exciting championship match.

The third-place match is probably going to be a slog, though. Hopefully Morocco can beat Croatia.

I tend to think had Croatia played the way they played today in their previous game they might have made it to the final.

I'm glad France decided to join the game and give us a proper World Cup final. I was rooting for them but I'm happy for Argentina, or more specifically, for Messi. It's a great way for him to retire.

Wrong place, great result. Absolutely stoked for Messi. Maybe now the stupid comparisons will finally end.

Could have done without the nonsense at the trophy presentation with the robe thing (:wtf:), and it really looked as though Infantino and the Qatari bloke were going to follow Messi into the celebrations. Bizarre, creepy stuff.
