2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar - Thread

Bloody hell, Argentina made hard work of that. Credit to the Dutch for the comeback, though.

People - and I'm one of them - do go on about Messi, but that pass for Molina's goal was something else. I'd love to see him lift the trophy, but whether those around him are good enough is the issue.

I am shocked at the exit of Brazil from the WC but Croatia is feisty team. But if anyone could upset the 5 times champion, it would certainly be that Balkan nation. The Croatians play very good football. Small countries aspiring to be footballing powerhouses could see Croatia as an example to emulate.

The Dutch are out and i was supporting them. I guess I am switching my support to Argentina now.

Go Argentina. I would love to see Messi win the World Cup.

I didnt know that Argentina are such bad winners with taunting the Dutch players and coach. And I don't understand why Messi didn't got a card when he touched the ball with his hands.

What a night of drama. And now to look forward to England being knocked out tomorrow night.

It can go one way or the other. I have an obvious favorite option but honestly, everything after the groups is a bonus.

I think one way for France. England, yet again at a major tournament, have ridden their luck.

It was apparently retaliation for events during the shootout. A card was also issued.

According to something I read a few Dutch players followed Martínez as he walked to the spot to take the final penalty and had more than a few words to say, even after an assistant ref cleared them away. The game wasn't played in the greatest spirit by either side as it was, but that sort of nonsense wasn't likely to endear those players to the Argentinians.

The current QF has been a pretty good game.

Just before I started cheering for Morocco, they aren't abusing human rights or starting nuclear wars are they?

There aren't any French players named Roland are there...?

From what little I understand, there's no particular human rights abuses going on right now. It's a country where the monarchy wields a significant amount of power but seems to be reasonably wielding it compared to some other Arab world monarchies and other dictatorships. It's no Canada but also no Iran?
