2012 NFL Offseason

Yeah, I've heard the evidence against them was strong and this is pretty clear. Honestly, it sounds like, if it were physically possible, every player on the team should get a suspension. Unfortunately, they need players just so other teams have someone to play against, so they can't do that.

Jesus, it keeps getting worse.

Initially, I was on the side of the Saints, even though they beat my Colts that year. But more and more stupid shit keeps coming out about this. It's definitely starting to look way worse than Spygate.

From the SI story, let the backpedaling begin:

"There was no such thing as a bounty where anyone put up money to hurt another player," said the person, who spoke to AP on condition of anonymity because the investigation is ongoing and related litigation is pending.

"There were stupid names for legitimate plays," the person said, referring to the use of the terms "cart-offs" and "whacks." The person said the payments listed "are for big, clean plays," and that plays which were penalized usually resulted in fines.

I need football in the worst way right now. They manage to do something every couple months during the offseason to get you interested. i spent several hours reading about who stood out and who stunk it up in Pats minicamp. I'm hopeless.

LOL. I'm in the same boat.
Kind of sucks that Jeremy Ebert can't practice due to some arcane NCAA rule that prevents players from playing before graduation. I've seen the kid play for NorthWestern and he's shown signs of Welker/Givens talent.

The Pats offensive squad is currently stacked, and honestly, one or two guys who've shown promise will either be let go or left to the Practice Squad, assuming they get through waivers. Fucking Tampa Bay and a few other teams are notorious for pilfering our talent in that manner.

Oh, and as far as I'm concerned, the following are on the bubble:
1. Julian Edelman
2. Jermaine Cunningham

BANZAI!!!!!!!!!

Edelman is not on any bubble. He returns punts and can play DB. Lord Bill loves multitaltented players.

It comes back down to everything else that's been the case the last couple years - offensive line that can give up a pass rush and a defensive backfield that's awful.

Look at the the last two SB losses and tell me that isn't the case. Also, fuck the Jets.

Except his punt returns haven't been stellar as of late, and his DB play was out of sheer necessity rather than noteable talent (of which he was no Troy Brown).

I like the kid, but he was brought in primarily as a WR and punt returner, and as a WR, outside of showing promise in his rookie year, he has also been a dissapointment. He has butter fingers and has problems gaining separation.

And yes, fuck the Jets.

You can't make this shit up. (edited out, as it was misconstrued...)

The New Jersey Herald reports that Jason Slater of Hopatcong, New Jersey was arrested on charges of creating false public alarms after calling 911 three times on June 10th and then refusing to give dispatchers any idea about why he was calling. Slater then called police headquarters and demanded to speak to Jets quarterback Tim Tebow while claiming to be the President of the United States.

Police went to Slater’s house to make sure that there wasn’t any emergency and found him hiding under some pillows in his mother’s closet. Slater, who is 28, was arrested at that point.

Slater greeted the officers with expletives and was taken to the police station for processing. Slater was then observed throwing his summons on the ground after leaving the station, earning him another summons for littering.

BANZAI!!!!!!!!!!

Listen, I hate the Jets as a team as a Pats fan, but as far as asshole wackjobs go, every team has them.

I've been to enough games at Gillette to be embarrassed to be a fan.

Fans are the worst part of sports.

I was being facetious. Yes, I've seen my fair share of crazy fans from all fanbases, except this one was a bit more over the top than usual.
