2003 Ubisoft Warlords 4-won't install-Vista

I play a game called Warlords IV from Ubisoft. I use a WinXP and my girlfriend uses Windows Vista. I tried to install and it says Can not start Installer. Do I use windows capatability mode? How do I do that?

Hey, I have that game!

Right-click the executable for the setup, pick Properties, and look at the "Compatibility" tab. Make sure it's set to XP.

It worked fine on WinXP. This is Vista. I figured out how to make it work without compatibility mode. A stupid Ubisoft Menu was coming up that had the option to launch the installation. It didn't work and autorun didn't work because it just brought up the menu from Ubisoft. So I opened the disc directory and there was an install shield for windows on the disc. I clicked that and it installed.

My installation did not actually work. I typed the above before trying it. When I tried to hit the shortcut it asked me to login again as the administrator.

I finally got it going. I had to use Install shield as an administrator and then use AutoPlayRun as an administrator to start the game. Everything works except my windows sidebar seems to be gone for some reason. It has the date and a clock.

That might be a bug from the game using DirectX or something. A reboot should fix it.

In the future, keep in mind that some games will need to be stalled under the administrator account. It varies from game to game.

I have the game at home, but isn't installed on this laptop that runs vista. I'll see what I can do tomorrow. Also, might see if I can download warlords 2, as I loved that classic game. I had it on my old PC.

You install it by the following method:
1. setup(install shield) as Administrator
2. AutoPlayStarter as Administrator-I labeled it wrong in the above post.

I'm playing it right now.

There is a Setup, but it isn't an application, it is a bitmap.
