Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (pre-release thread)

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (pre-release thre

Well, if the movie is a tale, then I guess we can assume it's being told by living people. Spoilers!!!!!!

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (pre-release thre

I'm honestly shocked it took them this long to use that title.
Since I'm one of the few people who actually enjoyed On Stranger Tides, I'm optimistic about this.

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (pre-release thre

I have not been disappointed by a Pirates movie yet. Bring it on!

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (pre-release thre

I know Disney's trying to build a shared cinematic universe and all, but I really don't think employing a mystical Native American Time Cave to allow Captain Jack to team up with Tonto is a good artistic move... :(

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (pre-release thre

Any word on the budget? Pirates 4 didn't seem to have any of the elaborate action sequences of the first three. Does Depp get all the money now?

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (pre-release thre

Weren't there some pretty effects heavy sequences on Blackbeard's ship, with the mermaids, and at The Fountain of Youth?

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (pre-release thre

^ The mermaid sequence was okay, yes, but the main thing is that very little aquatic location shooting was done, and there weren't any ship-to-ship battles - not one cannonball was fired. Since the movie made a billion bucks regardless, though, I don't see any reason to assume there'll be a significantly higher budget this time around... but it really all depends on the story.

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (pre-release thre

I had no idea they were even making a 5th movie. I never bothered to see the last one because, in my mind, the story was done.

I never got around to seeing the last one either. Though I knew we'd be getting a fifth film eventually. I wonder if they'll stop at an even six.

I consider the first three to be the main story. Everything afterward is just a Jack Sparrow spinoff. It doesn't help that OST wasn't good.

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (pre-release thre

I really like the series and I thought 1-3 were great. I didn't like 4 at all. Still I'm a fan of the franchise, and I think Jack Sparrow is an awesome character, so I have some hope fot 5, I just hope its better than the last movie.

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (pre-release thre

I would like to see them move away from the supernatural elements and just have some sort of swashbuckling adventure. Show some real piracy too... in the first movie, at least, the pirates were shown to be the bad people that pirates really were. Since then, they have been a bunch of lovable misfits. I know it is Disney, and they cannot go too far in making them bad, but still. They are supposed to be pirates. Doing piracy. And other pirate-y things.

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (pre-release thre

I've always loved the POTC franchise. I really like Jack Sparrow, but OST was not as good, though not terrible. I do hope that this next one gets things back on track. I'm pretty sure they are doing one more after this one as well.

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (pre-release thre

I'd like One Eyed Willie to make an appearance, but since Goonies was WB and these are Disney movies I doubt that will happen. Still would be cool.

Have any of the movies involved the Bermuda triangle as of yet?

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (pre-release thre

I loved the trilogy (and I'm one of the few people enjoyed At World's End the most), enjoyed On Stranger Tides (but not as much as the trilogy), and I look forward to the next film, but I think that is a terrible subtitle and I hope they change it.
