Star Trek: Secret Voyage

Is there a reason why Secret Voyage doesn't get much attention on this forum? It seems like an interesting project.

It does, doesn't it? But everyone's tastes are different. Maybe some folks just don't like the concept? Personally, I always look forward to Classic-era Star Trek fan films.

Not to be too catty, but there's nothing to discuss/show much interest in because:

A) there's nothing there but a text laden "trailer", a partial cast list, a couple of generic starship flybys, and...
B) see A

That still doesn't make it much to talk about or get much interest up. I wonder, though, if that group knows anything about the Excalibur group, as they both appear to be based in Vegas.

Yes, they know about each other, and I've been in contact with both groups. I was told there was even overlap between the groups. Here's what I have on the group (from http://startrekreviewed.blogspot.com/2009/06/143.html (V)):

Star Trek Secret Voyage Golden Age. Live Action. Home Base: Boulder City, NV, USA. Set after the 5 year mission but before the very first Star Trek movie.

Check our Star Trek Secret Voyage for upcomming fan film information.

http://www.facebook.com/pages/Star-Trek-Secret-Voyage/186558761372355 It contains no information not already in the listing, so I copied it to acknowledge it but rejected it as a comment. One hopes they will release a film and have their own webpage in the future.

Good Morning fellow Trekers and Trekies. I am the Executive Producer of Star Trek Secret Voyage. I have to admit that although I had heard of this site, it just never occured to me to sign up. Several fans of our production requested I begin to spread the word so here I am. We have spent over a year developing this webseries and have emersed ourselves into the world of the 23rd Century. Our series intends to challenge what we know and believe about Star Trek while reaching out to those viewers who are not among the fold. We have a website www.startreksecretvoyage.com that we are working to improve and add content. We've spend most of our time building our facebook offerings and growing to an impressive 3000+ followers. The project began during the 2010 Star Trek Convention in Las Vegas. It had been years since I attended and I was very impressed by the caliber of fans and thier passion. I had wondered why NOTHING was being done to celebrate Trek's 45th anniversary. The wheels began to turn and before I knew it I had started down the path. Our project has grown beyone my original vision and with more support, volunteers, funding and talent we expect to make the most of what we hope to be an 8 or so episode run. If anyone has any thoughts or questions you can post here or visit our Facebook page. Keep in mind that I am just a fellow lover of Star Trek that has set out to use his own funds to create more Classic Trek entertainment for you THE FAN. Thanks, Craig Sheeler Executive Producer and Creator of Star Trek Secret Voyage.

As you may know there are at-least three TOSera bridge sets in various stages of completion around the country. I am curious if you are using real or virtual sets for the ship side shots. I noticed you have done some location work and it looks good. Can you share any other details about you project? I am sure there is much that you wish to keep concealed until you begin releasing your episodes.

Thanks for recognizing that much or our Voyage must remain Secret. I can tell you that the Enterprise is a guest star on our series and makes a cameo, but it is not one of our stars. I can also tell you that I am working closely with the other top fan productions on insights, props, costumes and sets, they have offered their sets to us when we need, and when we can raise funds to travel an entire cast to their locations. There is so much that goes into these sets and they are critical for creating the feel of Star Trek but we also believe the adventures should be about action and conflict, not always space battles and bridge tumbles.

With the help of this site I've managed to find quite a few very enjoyable TOS-era fan films. It's now this one's turn. You seem to have a snappy trailer, some appealing-looking actors (the captain looks leading-man enough, and all of the cast appear ''military''-fit. I always cringe inside when I see very out-of-shape people attempting to portray Klingon warriors or Starfleet services crew).

As for the series itself, I would be interested to find out just what will make THIS series different from all the others out there in youtube land (notably Phase II, Exeter and Farragut). Simply put, what will make Secret Voyage a different take on an old concept, the same way we have had CSI, CSI Miami and CSI NY...

The current quality offerings out there are still only producing 1 episode a year, we feel the fan based needs more great classic stories. Secret Voyage is different in that it positions itself in a time of great change for the federation (between the end of Kirk’s 5 year mission and the first Motion Picture) Which is why we’ve coined the phrase “The Final Classic Adventure of the 23rd Century”. Secret Voyage will be much darker and have more stunts and physical action than other series…i.e. less space battles and bridge conversations. Once our initial pilot is launched we intend to offer two fast paced half hour serial installments each year with separate storylines and chilling cliff hangers. We have also dug deep to create characters that are unique and long awaited in the Star Trek universe, such as an Andorian female 2nd in command (played by Lacie Gurr), and a Pandora’s box with pointed ears like you’ve never seen (played by Mo Stones).

Sounds exciting! Glad you came by the Trek BBS. As far as I'm concerned, there can't be too many really high quality Star Trek Fan Films from ANY era.

Concerning your comment about one-per-year from fan groups... I have to note, that's more than Paramount or CBS are producing. And with the new sets, I'm not sure that Farragut will be producing only one-per-year.

I agree Barbara. The comment was more directed to the fact that we can never have enough classic trek and we must support and promote the hard work that everyone puts in to give us what they can.
