Your Affirmation, Quotation, Observation for Today

I think all of us have something that we learn or observe while going about our daily lives. The rat race can be so interesting sometimes. So what I want to know is what you figured out, happened upon or learned during your day. It can be silly, serious or scary. Anything goes as long as it means something to you and you would like to share it. It would also be nice if you told us why you posted what you did… so this won’t look like just another MISC spam thread. :rommie:

Some examples to get us started…

An Affirmation: People will surprise you with their ability to find new ways to be stupid.

(Someone sprayed sunblock right into their eyes today at work. They then complained, “Ouch! They should put a bigger warning label on this!” It’s sunblock. They shouldn’t have to warn you about your eyes at all.)

A Quotation: “I’ve got so many lawyers standing in line to see me now you would think I have tobacco leaking out of my breast implants.” ~ Mr. James, NewsRadio

(It’s just freaking funny.)

An Observation: Have you noticed that whenever you see a couple together that the less attractive one will always be hanging on to the other like someone is going to steal their partner? And the more attractive the one is over the other the more the less attractive one will glom on.

(I saw this one ratty looking girl today… whose humongous muffin top looked to have been baked by Betty Croker herself… shopping with a very attractive muscled blond guy. She was holding on to him so hard that he was walking sideways. I doubt he had any blood left in his arm she was gripping him so tight with her dirty mits. And anyone who even glanced at her “man” she gave them the evil stare of death. I am shocked several girls didn’t just go up in smoke from her gaze.)

Your turn! Have fun sharing. I will be back tomorrow with something new.

An Observation: When throwing cats into a wheelie-bin, one should always check for CCTV cameras.

Observation: I am finding that when the universe gives you decisions to make, the harder the choice, the less information the universe gives you about the choices.

(Which job do I take?! If I choose the wrong one will I be walking into more hell? How do I know which choice is the right one! Agggghhhhhhh!)

Observation (not directed at you personally, AS): People are afraid to choose. While they wait around, they will find that the choice has either already been made for them or that they lost the opportunity and walk away with nothing.

^ I can agree with that. But even though I see that happening all the time I myself do not subscribe to that course. In fact I am the opposite. I am usually jumping into something without thinking things through. :rommie: I am trying not to do that this time. I do not want to jump from the frying pan into the fire... again. (But I also don't want to let the universe make the decision for me either.)

Although things may seem too good to be true... - remember that sometimes they're just good :)

Observation: 16-1/2 year old teenage daughters can suck the life out of you. *sigh*

Sounds like a nightmare, YR. Do you have any other children? They are draining...

It's been pretty much that this last week. She's big on drama, but this week she pretty much kicked me in the head (figuratively). Really, I'm tired. Thanks for your concern GG. I appreciate it more than you could know.

Oh, i do have another 'child'. He's almost 26, lives in another state and pretty much is the light of my life.

My mother swears that raising both her rough and tumble boys was ten times easier than raising my sister. She almost killed our mother with all the crap she kept stirred up all the time.

Quotation: “Hot-air hand dryers? It would be more hygienic if they had a plague infested gibbon sneeze my hands dry.” ~ Sheldon, The Big Bang Theory

(QFT :bolian:)

I think the same thing happened with my sister & my mother. I think I'm a pretty easygoing, live & let live sort of guy. While we have a lot of differences, I think we're both able to let go of them often enough that we get along.

My sister is a whole different can of worms. She believes that being related to her gives her carte blanche to treat you like shit. She has strong preconceptions about what your role in her life should be and she will never let you forget it if you don't live up to those expectations.

When she was in high school, she suffered from annorexia. This drove my mother sick with worry, especially because she wasn't getting any useful support from anyone, especially my father. (For someone so smart, he can often come accross as shallow & judgmental.) Eventually, my sister got better. However, she never acknowledged all of the effort that my mother put in for her during that period. I hate her for that.

It's especially bad because my mother is such a naturally giving person anyway; destructively so. She's so concerned with taking care of everyone else that she never bothers to take care of herself. Which means that my father, my grandfather, or I are always left to bail her out of her financial mess caused because she can never bring herself to achieve any sort of financial independence.

Affirmation: "No one cares about you."
It sounds harsh, but I've found this fact quite affirming lately. While I know I've got good friends who do care about me, I have to remember that people I don't know don't really care about me. Thus, I should never interpret anything they do as a negative judgment against me.

Observation: The slow knife penetrates the shield.

Affirmation: I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
