The above quote is from a classmate of my 13-year-old daughter, made after my daughter said that she is half-Canadian. What's really sad is that my daughter's at an independent school which requires all prospective students to take entrance exams.

(Normally a statement that dark and harsh would fall into the observation category. However, in my case, it is a fact and I am the proof. And for the record, I should just give up on having a normal relationship with anyone, cut my loses and grow a hump. But my heart will betray that undeniable logic and keep trying; of that I have no doubt. My love life has always been a train-wreck so why change things.)

Couple of different interpretations there:

Those who don't mind (aren't troubled by) an inconvenience are the ones that matter.

Or

Those who don't mind instructions are the ones that matter.

Something of a personal mantra for me - especially about my kids. So many parents seem to spend their time looking back and reminiscing about when their kids were babies - if you do that you miss all the fun stuff happening now! (Admittedly my kids are only 5 and 3 )

Observation: Change is a basic fact of life. Change is inevitable and keeps the human race from stagnating. It is necessary to our evolution. But most people do not like change and defy basic logic to actively fight its progress, even when it is beneficial. And most people, after living with the changes a little while, realize that they are better than what they had before, even if they were forced into it.

Don't know quite whether this counts as a quotation, affirmation or observation but it always makes me smile
