The 1974 Dharma Initiative group photo..

This has been nagging me ever since it was first shown. If everything that happens has happened back in '74-'77 on the island, then shouldn't the photo have been there all along in in that one building? Is the photo specifically why Ben ordered the Others to catch Jack, Kate, Sawyer, and Hurley way back then? But if Jin is in the picture, why wasn't he on that list? Or if the past has been changed, did the picture mysteriously appeared ala Back To The Future and surprised even Ben? Help me out, fellow Losties.

That photo was always there. They always went back to 1974-7. There is only one timeline, and whatever happened, happened.

It's a bit unusual that Ben would leave them up, you'd think you'd take down the pictures of those guys you murdered once you start living in their old digs....But if he did leave them up, I totally buy that he wouldn't have studied them all and noticed Hurley or Kate in them. When you were in high school and would look at pictures of previous graduating classes, how good is your memory of the people in those photos?

That being said, I keep hoping we'll learn that Ben has always known the 815ers would one day crash on the island (which is why he let Desmond sit in the Swan station, he knew one day that station would bring the plane down) and when he say the plane break up over the island, in his mind he was thinking - "Finally, they're here!"

I was a bit disappointed when we found out he would forget that Sayid shot him. I thought it was a really exciting notion that when Sayid was torturing "Henry Gale" back in season 2, Ben knew this was the man who would one day shoot him as a young boy in 1977. What an exciting dynamic that would be between the two characters.

well humans are variables right?, so maybe they did change time, by being there, thus Jack, Kate and Hurley were never actually supposed to be there. Faraday, Jin, Juliet, Miles, and Sawyer however, were.

Which prompted Faraday to come to that conclusion, when he saw the new recruits flyer he new something was up, and had to go back to get more answers.

In the story that introduced Miles, they showed a timeline that changed. Originally this kid lived and then he died. They showed different takes in the house and the pictures showed this. Anyone else remember this. It shows that the past can be changed in Lost.

Are you referring to this ?

Seems almost intentional, but, if they never address it, I'll go with that as well.

Yep, that's it. Thanks.

Ok, but where did the time travel element enter that changed the photos?

Clearly, in the left one, the kid died and one of the pictures was the LAST picture of him and they put it in the special frame. In the other one, the kid lives and the picture is just one of a number of other pictures that features him growing older.

Yes, but when and how exactly do you think was the time changed?

Well thats the $3.2M question. I'm still waiting for some explanation myself. They went through the trouble of changing the wall. Why? :)

I don't remember the details but when Miles came back down the stairs weren't he and the grandmother still talking about the kid like he was dead?
