Free Web Page Hosting

Does anyone know if there any good Free Web Page hosts anymore? The ones that I can think of are now defunct.

If you know how to look for it, you can get free hosting on Netfirms.com They hide it REALLY well though, so it can be hard to find. Its there way of making money I guess.

We'll get your attention by offering free hosting, then make it impossible to find!!! MWUAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Edit:

Here it is.

They just don't say Free on the main page... ANYWHERE. It's the basic web hosting. You do your own HTML. I don't think it lets you do PHP or anything fancy like that, but you can embed vids, pictures, tables, inline text. I've had a couple of pages with them, and they work pretty good. The only thing that I don't like is that with the free account they put adds everywhere. You won't see it till you upload your page files, so check it often. They can really gum up the look of your page.

Here's one of my sites with them, so you can see what it looks like. Its one I did years ago for a graduation project from highschool, so it's pretty crude. Here.

I think Google offers free hosting through their Google Pages service.

If you have a low-traffic, non-dynamic site, I'd be happy to host you on my server for free and without ads. Just PM me.

It's free on comcast.net, but I think only if you have comcast internet.

It's here if you want to give it a shot. But the upload speed is sooooooooo frickin' slow. Then the process of making each page or photo public. Best to make a very simple homepage with their process, then upload your own stuff and link to it.

Also, when trying to link to the homepage here, somehow the url get twisted up a bit with some added characters: http://home.comcast.net/~michael_b_60031/site/ becomes http://home.comcast.net/~michael_b_60031/site/ when I use the Insert Link, when I type it out and when I copy link location. Not sure if that's a Trekbbs thing or a comcast thing. It's OK when I link to a sub-page though.

I was gonna say f2g.net but looks like they're gone too. They were ad free which was cool. I also maintain a paid hosting account for my website and I could help you depending on your needs.

If you can spare a couple bucks a month, a paid service is worth it. Nowadays $5 /month can get you a terabyte of storage space, every conceivable server feature and fast tech support.

Ok, ignore what I said before. Netfirms does offer free hosting, but you have to have a registered domain. It cost 7 dollars to do that with them, so if thats good with you then Netfirms isn't bad, otherwise, I'm not sure.

I've been using 150m.com since 2004. Free site have ads put on them automatically, and when they go down for repair/problems/upgrades, they don't bother to mention it; all part of the surprise.

I think this information can be useful for you. If you plan to get your website, here is one good free web hosting provider to choose - 000webhost.com

They provide hosting absolutely free, there is no catch. You get 1500 MB of disk space and 100 GB bandwidth. They also have cPanel control panel which is amazing and easy to use website builder. Moreover, there is no any kind of advertising on your pages. Plus PHP, MYSQL. I just signed up so I'm not sure what ALL is there yet. Anyway, its there to look at.

still learning. one perq for the paid account, it's about 5 dollars a month, for unlimited disk space. Now THAT sounds like a deal to me.

Never take a statement like that seriously. Almost all shared hosting plans (which are the kind you can get for <$10 a month) have policies that restrict how you can use your "unlimited" space and bandwidth.

They will say things like, "no more than x% of your web space may consist of images, audio files, etc." There are physical limits, too, but it pays to read the policy and find out what they actually mean by "unlimited."

If you're running a small site you probably have nothing to worry about. But if you ever become popular and get a lot of traffic, your host will pay much closer attention to what's on your account and may find a reason to terminate you. Most people on shared hosting plans are on the very bottom tier of Internet traffic: a few dozen to a few thousand unique hits per month. They oversell the server because they know most people won't come close to using their allotment. Just be careful. :)

been using that last host I mentioned. This is what I have for the site so far. It really does seem like a good site to use.

I second this. I just built my page on here, and it seems great. :)

Wow. That's the first free hosting I've seen that comes with ASP.net. Not as used to ASP as I am to PHP, but that's pretty useful stuff.

I'll host people without ads, for free, although having a backlink would be nice.

for anyone else who might need it - I have plenty of space and would be happy to do the same.

I've also got a domain I don't use that anyone could borrow, though I doubt anyone would need or want communistpartyuk.com
