A topic inspired by the deliciously fatty roast lamb I've just eaten.

Name your fat of choice...!

(*awaits pics of J-Lo's butt*)

For me, only one animal can bring home the bacon... PIG, I choose YOU!

(apologies for the Freudian typo in the poll title; it should say "good" of course!)

I prefer my fat in cakes and biscuits (which I eat sparingly). On meat, it all gets trimmed off. Alternatively, cold pressed virgin olive oil is my fat of choice.

Please enjoy Zion Ravescene responsibly. :bolian:

Ah, long pig, the one meat I've yet to taste...

It's gotta be pork.

Good man.

I rather think a bit of fat with the meat makes it more filling, so you end up eating less overall through the day. Not sure if any studies have been done on it, but that's my hunch.

Do you go for suet puddings? :D

Do you go for suet puddings? :D

I had a very disappointing suet pudding out for dinner a few weeks ago. It was light as a feather and all delicate and fussy. Not what I was after - the suet puddings of my childhood, which were as heavy as a brick!

I vote for my friend the pig. Everything but the squeal has some delicious fat component that adds to the dining experience.

I don't mind fat, when it's on something really good... my last fat intake was duck ham with fat all around the sides, sitting on toast with a thick layer of creamy butter... sinfully good. :D

When it comes to lamb, or chicken skin though, I have no compunction about taking it off.

Just remembered another favourite fat: a slice of cold butter on top of a hot jacket potato. Bliss.

My vote isn't even on the list. :(

In my opinion, the fats and oils from avocados, almonds and olives are, by far, the most divine of them all. I can put it on damn near anything. And that's just on account of its taste. The fact that those fats are the good kinds of fats make it all that much sweeter. :)

Immaculately put.

I knew I'd forgotten something - I was going to include goose & duck fat in the list too.

If it's healthy, it's not a proper fat in my book.

(I like extra virgin olive oil for salads & bread, and the regular stuff for cooking, but don't really conceptualise vegetable fats as fat even though they are. When I think fat, I think ANIMAL. :D )

Bacon and Pork. I tend to prefer leaner beef/chicken so definitely bacon.

Ohhhh, very well. If that's how you want to play it then I'll go for fish fats. :D Sushi just wouldn't be awesome without it.
