Captain Pike's Hat

Do we need to see the hat?

These are a couple of good ones, in my opinion:

With the impending return of Captain pike to the small screens, one important question remains unanswered...

He's taking command of the Enterprise, but is he bringing along his hat?

So, what do you think, should the hat look exactly the same, or should the hat be reimagined? If so, how would you make the hat fit both the Enterprise and the Discovery uniforms? Should he have two hats, perchance, one for each ship? Or just go hatless like a common criminal? Discuss.

After the 2009 movie, I see the hat as being a cadet uniform, or graduation memento.

I'm still trying to figure out how he's going to survive having four women in senior staff positions.

The Klingon War had depleted much of Starfleet's male command structure, and they had resorted to recruiting women for many of those roles. In the nine months Discovery was missing, Pike got used to senior female enlisted officers.

I think I'm missing something. I thought it was just female yeomen he didn't like?
No, he very clearly states in his conversation with Number One he doesn't like women on the bridge, aside from Number One who is "different."
ONE: She's replacing your former yeoman, sir.
PIKE: She does a good job, all right. It's just that I can't get used to having a woman on the bridge. No offence, Lieutenant. You're different, of course.
Then, in the very next scene we see another woman stationed on the bridge anyway.

Still, Discovery is a ship with four women stationed on the bridge and answers to a female Admiral. Pike's going to have some issues to work out.

Ah my mistake. I knew he had a problem with a female yeoman but didn't remember the rest of it.

Remember, Pike's previous yeoman was killed in the fight at Rigel VII. If that yeoman was female, perhaps Pike felt that having another female yeoman was too upseting and reminded him of all the crew he just lost.

It doesn't necessarily make him sexist.

As for Number One: Presumably they served together for awhile so Pike is used to her being there. That could be why she's "different".

Kirk was the one who complained about having a female yeoman in The Corbomite Maneuver.
KIRK: When I find the headquarters genius that assigned me a female yeoman
MCCOY: What's the matter, Jim. Don't you trust yourself?

Wow. This is the second time today. I was convinced the "humour a difficult concept" line was from Data and found out today it was Saavik in WoK. Now this.
Next somebody is going to tell me Sisko never lost his wife to the Kazon attack at Wolf 359.

It would be neither. It looks to be part of the dress uniform. As Kirk is a captain, and Spock a commander, making a report to Admiral Pike. They are also wearing them at the end during the memorial ceremony.
