I believe this photo is appropriate :)

Sometimes I think I can't win. After all these upbeat posts, I ended up in the ER yesterday. Long story made short: another setback with the wound, but I'm okay. This is getting monotonous. Very, very monotonous.

Well drat. One step forward and two back is NOT the way to do this.
Ramping up the good mojo, thoughts and prayers and Zen Hugs your way.

Good luck. It can't be long now, depite everything. You're still so much further than square 1. :)

Someone really needs to accelerate the development of the skin gun to deal with situations like yours.

There are a few graphic images in this video of burns, so this may not be for the squeamish. But the way these people were healed is amazing. This may be the forerunner of the dermal regenerator, in all seriousness.

Thanks, guys.

NG, wow, the skin gun is very impressive. Thanks for posting the video.

Unfortunately, it wouldn't help me, because my problem is pockets/tunnels of fluid beneath the skin. The skin itself is doing beautifully. In fact, if we weren't forcing a small (less than half an inch diameter) spot to stay open, it would have completely healed months ago. Of course, if that had happened, all that fluid would have been accumulating inside and creating far more of a problem than I have now.

I'm sure by the 24th century Star Fleet Medical will have come up with something for me. ;)

Damn...that's a shame. I was hoping that if there was experimental treatment out there that is THIS promising, it could help.

What I wonder is if someday someone will invent a variant of the skin gun to be able to spray into deeper wounds, such as injecting into the areas where those pockets are accumulating. But I'm sure that would take a lot of work to do, especially to make sure that what's sprayed in there propagates in the correct way without creating a mess. Still, it makes you wonder where we might be within our lifetimes. :)

Sorry to hear about the trip to the ER. I can imagine how tiring it must be to have yet another setback. I hope it's not too serious.

All kinds of interesting places. :) The surgery I had wasn't experimental, but it was state-of-the-art. For now.

RJ, thanks, it doesn't seem to be too serious.

This is kind of off topic, but I didn't want to start a separate thread. Some of you are aware that I was raped a year and a half ago. The guy was finally sentenced today! He got life, with all but 30 years suspended. In other words, he got 30 years, but if he messes up when he is released, he'll go back for the rest of his life. What a relief.

On topic, since I'm here anyway... Yes, I still have the wound vac. No, I don't know when it's coming off.

Do you think the creep is old enough that he will be dead in less than 30 years? Not to sound nasty, but I hope so, as that would put a lot of worries to rest.

And any chance of parole prior to 30?

Thanks, Ancientone.

He's only 21 now. Nineteen when he assaulted me. :( The judge recommended that he be placed in a treatment program for youthful offenders, which is an excellent idea.

He'll be eligible for a parole hearing in fifteen years, but isn't likely to be approved. Assuming he behaves himself reasonably well and doesn't lose any of his good conduct credits, he'll be released in twenty.

Good news about the sentencing.

I hope you don't need that wound vac much longer. :)

Okay, let's try this again... Hopefully, the second time will be the charm...

My wound vac is off. Again. Hopefully permanently. The nurse is really pleased with how the wound is looking.

With the exception of that week or so in October, tonight will be the first night since March that I won't be attached to anything. At first it was IV's (I was thrilled when they got it down to just one), then it was nine months of the wound vac.

I'm so excited, I'm practically dancin' in the street!

HALLELUJAH!! Wonderful news! Hope you have a great night's rest. :techman:

Don't do too much dancing. You don't want to split something that's not your pants!! :cardie:

But I really hope this will work!!! :D :D :D
