Before long the emmy nominations will be released but I thought it'd be interesting to see some of yours. You can do whatever categories you like and exclude any you want. I figure 5 to 6 picks is about right for each category. You can tell us which is your winner and why, if you'd like.

Here's my list. I left out comedies as I only watch one or two.

Best Drama:

Breaking Bad
LOST
Mad Men
Fringe
NCIS

Winner: Breaking Bad.

Best Lead Actor:

Jon Hamm- Mad Men
Bryan Cranston- Breaking Bad
Terry O'Quinn- LOST
John Noble- Fringe
Matthew Fox- LOST
Mark Harmon- NCIS

Winner: Terry O'Quinn. He played two different roles and was fantastic in both of them.

Best Lead Actress:

Glenn Close- Damages
Anna Torv- Fringe
January Jones- Mad Men
Elisabeth Moss- Mad Men

Winner: Anna Torv. No doubt an unpopular choice but I think she rocks and plays the subdued and depressed Olivia Dunham fantastically.

Best Supporting Actor:

Dean Norris- Breaking Bad
Michael Emerson- LOST
John Slattery- Mad Men
Aaron Paul- Breaking Bad
Nestor Carbonell- LOST

Winner: Dean Norris. He did fantastic work this season and brought the character of Hank to a whole new level.

Best Supporting Actress:

Christina Hendricks- Mad Men
Polly Walker- Caprica
Yunjin Kim- LOST

Winner: Christina Hendricks.

Best Writing:

"The End" - LOST
"One Minute" - Breaking Bad
"Full Measure" - Breaking Bad
"Shut the Door; Take a Seat" - Mad Men
"The Gypsy and the Hobo"- Mad Men
"Peter" - Fringe

Winner: "The End." I cried.

Have at it guys!

I didn't really watch that many shows, to be honest. The only ones I watched religiously were Cold Case, Castle, LOST and NCIS. Cold Case was canceled and likely will not be up for any Emmys, although I think Kathryn Morris is great! Castle is a fun show, but not exactly the sort of show that wins Emmys (although Nathan Fillion should be nominated in some sort of comedy category). So I am left with only LOST and NCIS.

Of those shows, the only actors who I think are worthy of awards for THIS SEASON (and no...as much as I love Michael Emerson, he had diddly squat to do this season and does not deserve an Emmy this year - not through his own fault, but nevertheless...)

Best Supporting Actor -
Nestor Carbonell. Ab Aeterno was an absolutely stunning episode of LOST. Might be my favorite episode of that show ever...a position that has been held by The Constant until now. I have loved Richard Alpert for a long time (I'm a sucker for the 'supernatural' characters with the mysterious pasts), but Nestor Carbonell hit it out of the park this year in general...and in Ab Aeterno in particular. The only actor who has shown this level of talent on LOST in a SINGLE episode has been Michael Emerson back in Season 4's The Shape of Things to Come. Nestor Carbonell had one shot at a centric on this show...and it turned out to be one of the best episodes of the entire series.

Best Actor -

Matthew Fox (Terry O'Quinn does not get nominated in the Best Actor category - the only LOST actors who are considered 'lead actors' on LOST are Matthew Fox and Evangeline Lilly). Matthew Fox was great this year. But in truth, I think Matthew Fox is good every year. Some people don't like his character, but that really needs to be separated from Matthew Fox's acting, which I think has always been good.

Mark Harmon. No one on TV owns a character to the extent Mark Harmon owns Leroy Jethro Gibbs. And when you consider how totally different from Gibbs Harmon is IRL, it's even more impressive.

Still, Mark Harmon being good in this role is not exactly a news flash. He was no better in season 7 then he was in any other season up until now. He is good in ALL of them. He has always been brilliant in this role. I don't know if he has won any Emmys for it yet, but if not, he deserves to.

Best Writing-
Ab Aeterno - this was the episode that made ME cry this season, and the episode had the feel of a movie rather than just a TV show, IMO. It was epic and beautiful in all respects.

I also really loved two other LOST episodes - What They Died For and Happily Ever After (Desmond always has the best centrics!), and think they are both worthy of consideration, if not nomination.

I did not cry during The End. In fact, I'm trying has hard as I can to completely ignore the last 20 minutes of that episode of LOST as I think that it was lame, lame, LAME. I was ready to cry. I even WANTED to cry. But all I could do was to look on in shock as they nearly destroyed the entire series in the last 20 minutes. God, it was terrible. :(

So definitely - Ab Aeterno. :techman:

I don't know episodes, but Lost, Dexter and Breaking Bad should be nominated.

All I can say is that Jane Lynch should get Best Supporting Actress, Comedy for her role as Sue Sylvester in GLEE.

I haven't watched a huge amount of TV lately (been at university, so there isn't one in my room, being the main reason), but the people I'd like to see nominated:

Cory Monteith - Best Lead Actor, Comedy
Lea Michele - Best Lead Actress, Comedy
Chris Colfer - Best Supporting Actor, Comedy
Jane Lynch - Best Supporting Actress, Comedy
Kristin Chenoweth - Best Guest Actress, Comedy

Jon Hamm - Best Lead Actor, Drama
January Jones - Best Lead Actress, Drama
John Slattery - Best Supporting Actor, Drama
Christina Hendricks - Best Supporting Actress, Drama

Absolutely! And I think that between his performances in the season premiere and the season finale of House, Hugh Laurie needs to get the Best Actor Emmy...but considering how they completely shafted Martin Sheen for seven years of The West Wing, I'm not holding my breath... :)

I always said that The West Wing and The Sopranos should have arranged to swap one of the former's Best Drama Emmys for one of Gandolfini's Best Actor Emmys.

I'm hoping this'll be Hamm's year, personally; two in a row is enough for Cranston (who I also love).

I never got into The Sopranos so I can't speak to its quality, but the fact that Sheen didn't at least win for Season 2...that's practically a crime...

It's very ironic that he was one of the only major castmembers who didn't win one. Schiff got one, Whitford got one, Spencer got one, Channing got one, Alda got one, Janney got, like, four.
