Can't speak to that, but seems more a budget/TV conceit than something that makes sense to do in 'real life' for the ship. Plus, again, requires an entire other bridge and crew somewhere, because you're taking the control center away from the ship when you land the bridge module. That's them wanting to do 50's sci-fi and land the whole ship, but in a cool way and also not breaking the overall design that doesn't look like it can land.
Thankfully they went with shuttles and transporters instead. Makes more sense, leaves the ship as a viable spacecraft, and allows some level of drama because you don't have an entire starship at your disposal at all times. You SHOULD be somewhat exposed when you leave the powerful ship behind and venture out. It's poor writing if everything is overpowered and awesome at everything you want to do.
