"Wink of an Eye" Script Needed

albion432

I've searched the internet for the script to "Wink of an Eye," but was unable to find it anywhere. Does anyone have a copy of the script that they could share, or know where I could get my hands on one? I'm interested in reading the full version of the Scalosian distress call, and figure the script should have all of it. Thanks!

I have a 9/9/68 draft. Send me your email via Messenger and I'll send you a copy.

Sir Rhosis

Hey Sir Rhosis, hope you don't mind if I ask for a copy to read? I've been futilely seeking the Wink of an Eye script since I made a Star Trek Online Foundry mission "The Scalos Incursion" as a series annivesary/sequel to it back around 2016 to check notes, and while I've long finished it and sent it to YouTube when the Foundry was shut down, I would be delighted to see what deleted scenes or ideas were around that episode.

OMG, a "Wink of an Eye" thread!!! Christmas came early for this fan of that ep (my #3 fave overall) - I might have the whole script memorized or close. Best guest star in the series, and one of the top scripts in terms of dialogue.

@1001001, Chrissy types what she sees and hears on screen. And she did a good job with the Scalosian call. She types (when it is first played on the bridge for the viewers):

To any and all space travellers passing within range of the planet Scalos, I send you an urgent appeal for help. My comrades and I are the last surviving members of what was once a thriving civilisation. Those of us who are left have taken shelter in this area. We have no explanation for what has been happening to us. Our number is now five. We were once a nation of nine hundred thousand.

But after that, when Spock plays it again to dope out the hyperacceleration, Rael's phony act goes a little deeper:

Those of us who are left have taken shelter in this area. We have no explanation for what's happening to us. (Spock slows down the playback, then speeds it up) Those of us who are left have taken shelter in this area. We have no explanation for what's happening to us. Nation of nine hundred thousand. City alone holding one hundred thirteen thousand. On which existed several culturally enlightened Indigenous population

And that's all I've ever been able to make out too. I think @albion432 might want to see what else the writers did with that call, and I'd be interested too. @Sir Rhosis, I'm going to message you with my e-mail too if you don't mind terribly.
My favorite new topic in months. :adore:

Rather a pity that Lincoln Enterprises seems to have disappeared.
Agreed. I used to order from them way back when.

Today, both scriptcity.com and scriptfly.com have some TOS scripts available for sale. Not every episode, but some of them.

Kirk still thinks he killed that red shirt.

You know, that's a really good point, and while it's nothing new for Star Trek, the script's failure to acknowledge his death at the end has always bothered me. His name was Compton, by the way, and he always scanned as more of a scientist to me than a security officer, since he seemed to be taking water and perhaps other samples on the planet. He evidently had some pretty strong cross-training as well, as the final script says he showed the Scalosians how to take over the ship.

I've never thought about this before, sadly, but if there are detailed internal ship sensors or even video recordings as "The Menagerie" and "Court Martial" seem to suggest, then after departing Scalos, Kirk and Spock might have been able to speed up the recording equipment and determine what the Scalosians actually did to poor Compton. Rael should have been tried for his murder, just as Rojan and Hanar should have been for the murder of Yeoman Thompson, but the hyperacceleration would have made that difficult. In any case, the extremely dark ending suggests that Starfleet effectively left Deela and the others to die.

Are they copies or original?
Nothing Script City or Script Fly have are originals. They only peddle with PDFs of the same Lincoln Enterprises drafts that have been out there for decades.

Word of caution with Script Fly - in the last few years, they've started tagging every page of their PDFs - which they don't own or have any real rights to - with their logo. I'd recommend not buying from them.

Thanks for letting us know. I've ordered non-Trek scripts from Script City and have been generally pleased overall.
