So I have the original disc for Star Trek Starship Creator, Warp 2, and a while ago tried running it. The audio was terrible (some issue with quicktime and windows, since QT is *long* deprecated)... BUT I just tried it out again (this time using the ISO from archive.org) and the first time the sound was terrible... but then I went into Quicktime and changed a bunch of settings, trying to make them higher... and it worked! The audio is fine!
Here's what I did, in the Quicktime 4 settings (QT 4 installed from the setup file on Warp 2 disc). I have no idea which one of these did it because I did them all at once, but I don't care because the game works now!
Connection Speed: Intranet/LAN
File Type Associations: I removed all, since I don't want anything other than Warp 2 opening in quicktime 4
Music: Changed the default synthesizer to General MIDI
Sound Out: Changed the rate up to 48 kHZ, kept size at 16 bit, using 'DirectSound: Windows' preferred device'. Also, after clicking the 'options' button, I doubled the 'Fifo size in millisecs' to 120, with the default option not checked.
Streaming Transport: Changed it to HTTP, with default port of 80
Hopefully that helps those of you who love playing the game as much as I do! (Well, I liked the cool part, the MSD-style windows where you added all the pieces to the ship, but I'm sure the actual missions are great for someone
