I always thought the ENT pitch for him playing MU Kirk, "Tiberius" was the best way to feature him. Just don't even deal with the headache of bringing back our Kirk and making up excuses for his age.
And hopefully if this does happen it doesn't work in a way that screws with the OTOY Unification short.

Shatner can say whatever he wants. A year ago Patrick Stewart said somebody gave him a script for a movie. Haven’t heard jack about it since.
Again, unless it’s news from a reliable source, it’s not valid info. Unless it’s yet another movie announcement from Paramount, in which case that’s bullshit too.

Patrick Stewart was given a script and someone at Paramount wrote it. It's likely that someone at Paramount talked to Shatner, but that doesn't mean that every script written and every conversation will come true.
If active talks are going on between William Shatner and the current producers of a Star Trek series, it's probably for some sort of Cameo on Star Trek Strange New Worlds, as filming for season 4 of that series is starting very soon.
Personally, if they could talk William Shatner into it, come up with a story for it; and he lives long enough for them to actually film it (he is 93 and will be 94 in March 2025) I'd love it.
One way or the other I think we'll know pretty soon.

Anything, and I mean anything, that could piss off RMB and break his toxic little heart would endlessly delight me.I gotta wonder how the likes of The Inglorious Treksperts and Robert Meyer Burnett would handle Shatner appearing in SNW.

They will not bring back a 9x year old constantly nagging spoken word artist, not even for a cameo. Shatner isn’t able to get into character again, he has completely drifted away from the profession of being an actor. Like 20 years ago…
The S31 debacle will make potential investors even more suspicious in terms of bringing the big money to the table.
Don’t count an another big budget Trek movie before 2030.

it’s possible that he could be doing something similar to the Unification short where he lends his voice and face but someone else does the heavy lifting when it comes to actually playing Kirk.
He could also be voicing Kirk in something animated.
I wouldn’t automatically assume Shatner himself would be jumping back into uniform and sitting in the Center Seat.
